Thinking of getting 10 hole 15 inch 1998 e class alloys refurbished, Anybody had this done,do they end up with the same high quality finish, also will they stay looking new for as long as original finish, or should i spend the money on a good second hand more up to date set?

Buy a new set - I sold a similar set for the C Class a couple of years ago - absolutely immaculate, for not very much money !

Agree with Sym. Refurbing a set is going to cost £175 ish. You regularly see good sets of wheels go for the same sort of money. Make sure you buy the correct size for your car though!

That's a top price for 4 wheels. I paid £100 for 4 AMG refurb with polished rims. Satisfactory finish, although I could still tell they were refurbed, but then I'm a bit of a nut like that (aren't we all?)

One outfit I approached said, "Yeah we can refurb your wheels. Leave your car here and it'll be ready by 4.00" They were going to spray them (probably with a can). The other extreme is the Diamond Styling approach, but to be fair I think that's a bit wasted on a daily driver.

Surbiton Tyre & Battery, Hook Road, Chessington (not a million miles from you) although they send them off somewhere else to be done. They even lent me a set of spare wheels while mine were away FOC. The wheels had polished rims, painted elsewhere, and fully lacquered. Put another 10,000 miles on them before selling, no deterioration (apart from where the wife scraped a curb - women, eh!!).

My price was with a set of 4 Michelin Pilot Sports (still at a good price), but maybe they discounted a bit in total. Try them, they advertise in Mercedes Enthusiast all the time.

Very good price I asked them last year an :bannana: :bannana: d they wanted £250, perhaps they like the look of you better than me. Or is there a secret password?

I have mine done at Wicked Wheels in Guilford have been going there for a few years now.Have taken the SEC,Sclass and the C43 there, Keven has always done a great job. Not Diamond Cut, as mentioned not a good idea if used daily.

Four Wheels £ 141.00

Yes they are good.

KLP uses them and has recommended them to me...

But i haven't got any spare wheels or anywhere to put the car on blocks and they said they can't store the car on site at present, but they will be able to soon..

i had a good quote off them .... £160 ish .. inc diamond cut rims !

Here's an idea: get 4 W124/W201 owners to lend you their spare wheels for a week :)

Seems a long way to go.

Or find a very cheap/awful set of wheels of ebay that will be able to be fitttd to your car (dont bother driving the car) and when yours have been refurbed get rid of the "awful/cheap" wheels back on ebay or something....

Sorry flash but my borrowing idea is simply better and cheaper ;)

He can certainly borrow my spare 16" sport wheel with tyre and 5 bolts for a short while if neccessary. He'd have to collect and re-deliver from north manchester though ;)

Howard: make sure you go to every GTG with more than a couple of W124s there! ;)

Thats where the costs would incurr from collecting/delivering the wheels back to the "kind people" such as yourself for lending the wheel (s)! Your up North and Howard is down South... ;) Plus the transit cost (s) of the 3*additional wheels as well ;) On ebay some wheels go very cheap and afterwads the money can be "recouped" from reselling.

I did not even say that my suggestion was better than yours Shude... ;) :)

You know I was joking ;)

Surely at a GTG a quick swap/borrow could be done? :) Howard can't be the only W124 owner in London ;)

Surbiton wheels and tyres just quoted me £235, for a set of 15" painted wheels, I think they did yours very cheap.

Yes, seems like I caught them during a lean spell. Lucky me!
