Remembers to Give Way

I'm out, but before I go: do any of you have a view on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

Whenever I approach a junction on Motorways, I move one lane outwards to allow joining traffic a clear lane.

But to be fair it is much easier to do in a small car, not sure how practical it is for a slow lorry to weave in and out of lanes at every junction.

One junction where I do have an issue however, is on the M4 going west just before the M25.

If you intend to take the M25 you need to be in the inner lane, which is where the slip road from Heathrow 1-2-3 is. So I have to stay in the inner lane and accommodate fast traffic merging from my left.

Can't believe you're all still discussing this on page six.
It's bloody obvious who's to blame.

why should the truck driver have changed lanes, and therefore jeopardising/inconviencing the drivers in the lane to the left just to avoid a pillock who didnt know who to join a motorway. and as a truck driver myself, when driving my car I would not put myself in a position where I could be swiped by a 44t artic.

Nobody seems to have mentioned the "safe"? alternative way of joining a motorway.
At start of sliproad, floor accelerator until doing at least 100MPH so everything will be slower. Aim for gaps in traffic and launch oneself immediately into outside lane, then slow down to match the 85mph fixed speed traffic for rest of journey.
When the time comes to exit motorway, repeat procedure, making sure there is at least 3 inches of lane/zevrons left before cutting across the car in the way.
I see this lot's, so it must be the safer/preferred way?

OK, so what would be your next move?

Refuse to even consider evasive action and ram the 'pillock' off the road in your nice big truck maybe?

That'll learn 'em.

You're learning...

This happens frequently and often sets the rest of us up for an accident; the person is going too slow to join the traffic. 60 is no speed to be joining a motorway but sadly some people think it is fast enough.

Given a maximum permitted speed of 70 , and the fact that many drive slower , approaching at a speed of 60 or thereabouts , and being able to either accelerate or decelerate slightly to match the speed of other traffic , is about the optimal speed in general .
