Hi there, I've had a quick look using the search but can't seem to find anything on this.

My drivers side rear leaks fully over an hour and passenger side rear over about 24 hours. I like my cars low so though sod this, and have bought some custom air suspension.

What I'm after knowing though is if I disconnect the OEM suspension and pull the fuse for the airmatic will it bring up any errors or anything?
And if it does what ways around it do I have?

The pic is how it should be when I park up but after am hour it lowered the back so its tucking a little bit of the alloy!

I am pretty sure that if you simply disconnect it all you will determinately get errors. As the ECU will still expect all the relevant signals from the AIRmatic sensors, which will no longer be there. It may be possible to program through Star to no longer expect signals from AIRMatic although I am not sure. I know Arnott sell a kit for W211 which includes a module which fools all the sensors and may do for others

On a side note I may be interested in your old front left strut at the right price as I believe it is the same as on my car and I have a minor problem with mine

Cheers for the reply. From what I've finally found online they do bring up an error and there's two companies that have a module to stop the error. One is arnot like you mentioned but they don't sell it separate, the other is strutmasters ad theirs is $399.99 before delivery or import/taxes. So I think I'm going to see how much it annoys me first!

Not sure what I'm going to be doing with the oem suspension but if I do decide to sell ill let you know, the front ones on mine are spot on and the longest I've left my car without starting it is 8 days and they didn't change height at all

If your struts have been leaking for some time then your compressor has likely been run into the ground as well. The leak can be from other sources as well, not always the air bag.

Hi Lee, had similar problems with mine, changed out the fronts with Arnott units! Am home now, so drop me a tx bud on 07706 542464.

What custom air set up have you bought Lee?

Get coil overs you won't believe the difference they make in comparison to Airmatic. If you can get it on Star there a couple of things to do before pulling the fuse.

I've bought an airrex kit with airlift v2 digital management so I can raise and lower it off a keypad, I had it on my previous car. Sould put the car on the floor!

The only thing I'm bothered about is the error when I disconnect all the original suspension. Ill have a completely separate compressor etc from the original set up

Are you still using the OEM level sensors, if not you will need to zero the headlights and program in Star if not. Otherwise your headlights will dance around like searchlights after just a few miles.

Thanks, ill be leaving all that stuff connected so I'd imagine e headlights should still operate the same? The system I'm putting in is pressure based for the ride height and will be completely separate to the oem system.

I'm also new to mercs, is STAR similar to vagcom for vag cars?

Yep, STAR is to MB what VAG com is VAG cars.

Apologies for the delay bud! I have began to use MB of Darlington, goes in on Thursday for a service, will let you know how I get on, they seem absolutely spot on!
