Respray the stretched limo

John
Just stick with the steelies, give them a good scrub and wax and they will look fine against the blue.
:) They're as clean as they will ever be.:) If the weather is suitable then we will try to make 'em shine just to see if they look any better, but at present I'm planning on keeping them.

John

Shine the wheels and black the tyres and it will look good.

The longest lasting tyre black I've found is solid furniture wax.
Seriously it lasts really well and has just the right look, and at £1.09 a tin you can't go wrong.

Hapen I am.

Ah, but I can say this cos guess wher I's frum chuck.

Here's my (amateur) go at adding one of the alloy styles I posted:

I actually prefer the others:

But too much of a challenge for my skills to add these to John's picture :o

Maybe a poll should be in the pipeline, although I think I know what the results might be! ;)

No doubt a very proffesional job and very worth it, looks alot better now. Perhaps facelift rear light clusters may be a future thought if not already. Theres ALOT on ebay for cheap so worth checking out
:) Tail lights fitted and steels look like they are there to stay.

Hi Unit504,
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?? :D :D :D I slept on my decision, I was happy with the decision even though I accepted my son's efforts were not perfect, but now look what you've done? In my opinion your representation is far more realistic and has made me have second thoughts:mad:  . All my life I have made decisions without a second thought. These wheels are beyond my expertise (what isn't?:D ) and I have sought council to assist. Now you've thrown a spanner (or a jpeg) into the works.

What are your thoughts?

Another vote for keeping the steels here.
Sorry John.:o
Wife has just come in and stated there is thick rust right in the seams of the wheels. So if the steels stay, they will have to be replaced. I can't see sand-blasting getting into these crevices and I would certainly NOT attempt to bodge them.

Would any anti-rust treatment bump the rust off permanently, but still look acceptable?

Why not get the wheels done by a professional?
Have them shot blasted and then powder coated:D

John i like what Unit504 has done with the Limo, the alloy's look good. I know i have said it before, the colour was a great choice.

If you decide to go down the steel wheel road i am sure they would Sand blast OK.

Do you think they could blast out all the rust from right down inside the crevice? Blasting the easy bits would not be a problem, but I am so worried about powder coating over any remaining corrosion?

I have no idea how much steel wheels cost, but getting a perfect sand blasting would perhaps not be cheap?

John

Just as there are two sides to every argument, there are two sides to every wheel. Before you decide to have the wheels sandblasted, someone needs to have a look at the rear side of the wheels to see if any rust has started there.

A half way house cost wise (compared to buying alloys) might be new steel wheels.

New steels, re-painted to your choice of colour if you so wish, stick on weights.
