hi

firstly let me say thanks to all the people who have put up all the helpful information on the forum.

I have recently bought a CLK year 2000 model and have also purchased a comand system model number A210 820 56 89. i undertand that this wil work with my car.

i have fitted it but the navigation does not work. it does recognise the location of the car but does not follow it on the map.

i think that i need to locate and install the speed pulse wire which i can do but just wanted to know how and where it would fit into the comand system. i have not bought a CANbus as i thought i did not need it.

any help will be appriciated

thanks in advance

You almost certainly need to connect up the speed pulse. This can be found in the passenger sill - take a look at my HOWTO on this forum. This details where it is and how to connect it. Once you have the speed pulse installed you should calibrate the comand and it should then work fine.

as everyone has already said, you need to connect the speed pulse.

However if your canbus wires are connected to it properly (from the instrument cluster) then you should notice that it updates the position every 20 seconds or so..... but not all the time as it would with speed pulse.

Its probably in the passenger door sill.

if for whatever reason you need a canbus interface (shouldnt do if your car is facelift) then let me know as i'll sell u my old one!

thanks for the help guys.

i'll be trying to complete the installation this weekend and let you know how i get on

thanks again

You say your car is a 2000 model. August 1999 saw the MY2000 facelift. So provided your car is a facelift (has steering wheel controls) then the unit you have will work fine in your car as is. you shouldnt need a CANBUS adapter as the car has a CANBUS. As for the speed pulse, check to see if you have a wire on pin1 of the A connector. IF you do, then this may well be the speed pulse in which case simply bridge that connection to pin 6 of the C2. If you dont have pin1 A connected then you are going to have to find the speed pulse in the sill and connect it to both pin1 A and pin6 C2.

Hi Guys

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the useful info. i retro fitted the comand into my CLK at the weekend and works great. Special thanks to Alfie for the HOWTO info which was very helpful.

My ignition problem is also ok as when you make and fit the C2 connector it also connects the ignition.

Thanks again
