Guys I've bought the factory rear window sun blinder!
Since my car didn't came with this option I wanna retrofit this gadget and then I will have almost a full blast option car.

Do I need to change my rear speaker deck board?

I know I have to change the center control plate with the extra button to operate this blinder.

Factory sun blinder is different than the extra optional blinder operated with the remote.
Factory blinder came with more steel rails where they are bolted inside the rear speaker deck.

Did anybody swap the rear speaker deck and retrofitted this blinder in their Benzito?
Was it difficult?
Thanks

I don`t know about the w202s but on the w124s you don`t need to change it plus the mark is on the inside, all you have to do i cut

Hi,
I have done this too two W202's, my C230K and my C43,
switch £26,
wiring loom £20,
shelf £90,
switch panel in carbon fibre £80.
The shelf for the blind has clips to locate the blind though you can cut out the hole in a normal shelf as the blind hole is scored and can be seen from the inside of the shelf.
The switch panel hole can be cut out as well but this is very hard to do neatly, though i did manage to do it.

you may want one of these

also the wiring loom is approx £70 from main dealer

Hey bro, I've seen this button, my car has the later edition buttons.
This one doesn't fit the 99 cars?

Hey bro.
Did ya swap the shelf (I guess this was the correct word for the rear deck board)
You didn't use your factory shelf and gut it up from the inside?

What is the easiest way to do to retrofit this electric blinder?
I don't want to remove to many panels inside my car!

How did you manage to get the real factory blinder installed and the button placed on the center switch panel?
Was it hard to install it?

These parts are they still available to buy?
switch
switch panel CF?
wiring loom
shelf
Can you get me the # ps numbers?

thanks

Theres no easy way sadly and a lot of trim does need to be removed, to get the shelf out alone you need to remove the C pillar trims, rear headrests, rear seats and seat bench.

Hi,
If the O/P has a C43 the chances are he has the folding rear seat option in which case the rear seat can stay fitted and just folded down, though the side bolsters will need removing.
If you go for a new shelf it comes with no speaker holes, or any holes for the third brake light and the red indicator flags for the rear seat backs, and in retrospect its probably easier to cut the single blind hole than all of those holes i mentioned

Yeah I've got the folding backseats.
So can I cut this hole in place from the trunk to retrofit the blinder?
Or do I need to take the shelf out?
Seems to be a ****ty DIY self job!

Thanks for all the input dudes :bannana:

You can cut the hole in the shelf but regardles shelf still needs to be removed to do so and as the blind fits underneath the shelf. If you are going to cut the shelf cut it through the middle of the cutout first so you can peel the fabric ove after and make it look factory.

Thanks for the explanation.
Yeah, best way to cut this shelf is in the middle section of this trench where the blinder sticks out!
Like gutting up a fish, vertically!:p
This is what you're saying?
Cheers

If you look under your shelf once it is removed you should see a faint line where the shelf should be cut out for the blind.
The blind unit itself bolts through existing holes in the steel shelf under the parcel shelf.
The rear headrests, and "C" piller trims on both sides will need removing, and three plastic expandable rivets along the front edge of the shelf.
The shelf is very easy to cut I just used a stanley knife, though for the bigger holes I used a jigsaw to remove the majority and then trimmed it up with the knife.

Hello.
Thanks for the update.
About pre drilled holes in the steel shelf, does all MB cars come predrilled even though they are not delivered with this electric blinder as an option?

I was thinking to buy a new shelf, but does it really need cutting for speakers and the blinder?
Aren't these holes already cut out from factory?

About the shelf:
Is my non blinder shelf exactly the same in shape as the one delivered with the blinder?
Besides the precut holes for the blinder shelf!
Both shelves were made in the same mould?

About the:
Headrests are they difficult to remove?

C-pillar trims are they attached with plastic clips?
Easy to remove and easy to reinstall?

Cheers.

Hi,
The shelf will come with the blind hole already cut and a series of plastic clips to locate the blind fitted underneath it. It has no holes for the third brake light, rear speakers and the red flag indicators for the rear seat backs, these holes are,nt cut as not all cars had this equipment fitted from new.
The parcel shelf if the car has rear headrests and speakers should be the same as the shelf with the rear blind the only difference is the clips to locate the blind underneath.
The rear headrests are easy to remove "once" you know how, very difficult to explain to be honest, the c piller trim are just secured by clips which can be released by inserting a screwdriver behind the trim, but be careful as they can be fragile.
If you send me a PM with your e-mail address in it. I can give you the worksheet on how to install the blind, remove the piller trim and the headrests if you want it.

Where can I find the parts number for a BLACK colored BOSE parcel shelf that comes precut with the holes for the electric blinder and Bose covers and lastly the red flags that pops up when you unlock the handles for rear back rest?
This shelf must come precut for some cars because all C-klasse versions doesn't have all these options delivered from factory.

I was thinking to buy a new parcel shelf if they are still in stock?
