Ive just bought COMAND-APS and CD changer and other bits for my A class. In the past buying from a German dealer was only marginally cheaper than a UK dealer.

- Now its phenomonally cheaper ... we're being right royally ripped off again, and you can't blame the fact that Germany only pay 16% VAT, and we pay 17.5%

COMAND for A class is £2310 new here + the map disk which is £370. - Maybee you can get 10% or even 15% off from a UK dealer if they are being keen ..

The same new item from MB Leipzig (mercedes owned dealer) is 2100 EUROS + 60 Shipping + 200 Euros for the mapdisk (discounted from 250 as I was buying COMAND unit)

CD Changer here costs £333 retail , 329 EUROS from MB Leipsiz (who in fact sell stuff on EBAY)

Only 1.5% of this difference is due to VAT (Germany is 16%, UK is 17.5%)

£1 is currently 1.454 Euros. 1 Euro is 68.77pence

(UK prices from A class accessories brochure, 1/8/2005 recently sent to me by MB UK)

If you goto www.mercupgrades.com and click on the 'Where to buy parts' link, theres a load of info there about
(1) ebay shop and contact details for Mercedes Germany Leipzig
(2) MBGTC (Mercedes own dismantling company for older/2nd hand parts) ebay shop

Cheers
Richard
