Rotary heater contol bulbs

Heater control lamps

I also changed a couple of lamps in my W124 behind the controls. I went to the agent and was told they don't stock the lower wattage lamp anymore and the replacement for the centre of the control was a standard 1.2W, the same as the mimic circle.
I changed them out and found that the rotary control got overly hot when I used the car on a 100mile run due to the extra heat from the higher powered lamp.

I got some correct wattage lamps from an electrical supplier (but without the shading collar) for about 30p each and all is BTN now - I feel a bit safer now....

On my w208, the heater control light bulb is unwilling to come out.

Do you have to twist it because it has a bayonet-type fitting? Or is it simply a push fit with no twist?
