Rust pics, can this be treated?

Ok I will be going to visit the dealer tomorrow or Thursday. How should I best approach them regarding this warranty on crinkly seams? Is this something that Mercedes UK has officially and unconditionally said that they will fix? Is there a stance I should take and how should I respond if they try and decline a warranty fix?

Anyone?

I didnt go tonight and have been trying to google this crinkly seam exception to the rule to no avail. Does anyone have any info on it at all please as I will be going to visit the dealer tomorrow.

Mercedes should agree to fix all crinkly seam panels as it is a known defect with no cure other than replacement panels.

Mercedes should sort out all the substandard rusty cars and vans they've built, but they won't as it would cost money.

So am I going in expecting them to sort this out or hoping that they will wort it out but they probably wont?

Has anything been said by Mercedes regarding these crinkly seams and fixing them?

That is entirely down to you. If you are getting nowhere with them then you will have to kick up a fuss. How much of a fuss depends on how angry they make you, and how far (and how loud) you are prepared to go with it, and how full the showroom is with other customers at the time...

Loud and angry, lol, not really my forte but we'll see. I hoped that there was something more concrete than having to rely on getting irrate. I can wear people down so if it something they have the green light from MBUK to put right but try not to if they can help it Ill probably be ok. I just wanted to know whether it is worth persuing them or if there is no chance at all. Maybe I'll wait until a potential customer looms.

Well I went in to Mercedes Skipton who apparently dont have a body shop so couldnt give an full appraisal, dont know anything about crinkly seams etc. I have to go to Leeds for that...

Went to the approved bodyshop they use for out of warranty repairs, showed them the rust and they told me that it wasnt rust as such although it is a corrosion that looks to have been caused by something reacting from the product line.

It is unlikely to progress at a rate that will be of any significance for many years and if it does it looks like it would trouble the inside skin rather than the outer one that you see day to day. His advice, 1) pursue Mercedes as it is clearly a design fault, so regardless of warranty deals they should take responsibility for it and sort it. 2) ignore it as it unlikely to cause much bother anyway.

I asked him if it was caused by water getting in and he said that the part effected was sealed and putting cavity wax in it wouldnt do any good.

Sills??? I thought it was just the doors and tailgate that were effected...this gets worse and worse.:(

sorry, meant to say rear wheel arches. didn't look bad to me but it was starting to form on the lip from the sill upwards.

Just spoke to the Skipton Mercedes on the phone today who had sent a report to Leeds on my behalf. They sounded optimistic and said that Leeds will be phoning me next week to "try and sort it out for me".
