Following on from my previous thread where I decided against the S124 320T can I for opinions on these motors please.

Thanks, and sorry for all the threads, hopefully there will soon be a thread with a smiling face and pictures of my new car!

S210 earlier model, smaller engine, but looks nice. FMBSH apparently.

Mercedes-Benz E Class E220 CDI Avantgarde 5dr Auto 2.2 P/X CAR TO CLEAR PRICE ONLY.?

S211 Looks nice, added bonus of a towbar, is it underpriced? (My fav at the minute.)

Mercedes-Benz E Class E320 CDi Classic 5dr Tip Auto Diesel Estate 3.2 2005

logcode=visc

Another 210:
Mercedes-Benz E Class E320 CDI ELEGANCE 5DR TIP AUTO 3.2 2003

There's lots of 210's out there it seems.

Thanks all!!

The S211 sounds good. Just spoken to the seller, here's the story:

he bought it in Jan last year, it's and ex police car so no service history. MOT till June 2014, Tax runs out 08.13, reason fro sale - owner is returning to Turkey end of September. Body work, some minor blemishes, but no deep scratches, and no rust.

Sounds good. It's at the top of my price, but that's ok.

Is there anyone in Brighton who might be willing to take a wee look for me? I wil of course repay your time with suitable beer tokens!!

Cheers.

Tim.

Other than lower price and better space, S211 is a much better car than the S210. So if you can afford it get the S211.

The first car is way over priced.

The second one is better in the picture than expected.

The third one is too high mileage and over priced IMO.

I'm a rarity - I prefer the S210.

I find it more solid and less electronic than the S211...

I'd be wary of the 211, which seems seems very cheap for a 2005 estate with reasonable mileage. And when did the police use silver Mercedes estates? Unless the police kept it until the previous owner bought it (Jan 2012, so seven years; seems unlikely), what about the service history since they sold it?

How many previous owners does it have shown on the V5? Does the seller have a list of previous owners (easily obtained from DoT)? If he will give you the document reference number from the V5, you can check the MoT history yourself. Does it seem to fit a car owned by the police?

Bear in mind that he's a used-car dealer; not all of them are lying gits, but in my experience an awful lot are, or at least, are economical with the truth. I'd want to satisfy myself on all these questions before I considered buying it.

The S210 is nice, but I may be biased; mine's an AMG version, and not rusty to boot!

I am always wary of an advert that states a car as a 'Trade Sale' or 'PX Car'.
It's as though the seller is waiving any liability when the car goes wrong and by advertising with those titles you can bet there is something amiss.

The 210 is last of the bunch and the 177k wouldn't concern me in the slightest, but the seller should be flogged for advertising a car in such a filthy condition. Unbelievable! I'd walk away on that principle alone.
