Hi, have noticed today that my 2003 53 reg s320cdi has developed a gear change problem in that each time I give it a little gas i can feel the whole car shudder ,as if its driving over a rough surface. This only happens for a few seconds and then goes away, but if i then accelerate again, i feel the car shudder again for a few seconds and go away as the speed settles.
After spending most of the day driving slowly and quickly have managed to pinpoint it down to each time i accelerate.
Does anyone know what is causing this and can it be resolved.Other than that the car is fine ,no power issues and drives well.

Torque converter.

Not sure but not cheap, It would be worth making sure coolant hasn't got into the tranny oil as this would mean a new or recon box and new radiator, labour for box removal and refit is about 6 hours plus parts! Get it checked out by specialist or stealer.
P.S good luck

It does sound like glycol contamination so have it checked quickly.

New 'verter and radiator should fix it unless the glycol has attacked the gearbox friction material as well.

Many thanx for your thought guys.Took car to an indie in brum and gearbox service seemed to do the trick.Car running perfectly now.
