My A180cdi went back to the leasing company today after 2 years and 20000 miles of trouble free motoring. All the car cost me during this period was one service at the princely sum of £147 and the dent repair man that came out yesterday to repair 2 very small dents and only charged me £35 which I thought was going to cost me at least £60 (if anyone wants his number then pm me, he is based near manchester airport).
Just thought i'd praise the poor mans merc (even though they're about 20 grand!!!) because it seems sometimes to get a bad press.
So my daily driver now is my 1994 220ce, I only hope and pray it performs as faultlessly as the A class.
Amen!!!

The W169 model is greatly improved over the W168 and is often wrongly berated by the uneducated.
Pleased that you enjoyed your two years with the A Class :thumb:

It's been brilliand and averaged round about 50mpg. Oh it had been re-mapped as well so the guy who picked it up was probably a bit surprised because it was quite a bit quicker that the standard car:D:D

That will make a good buy on the "Used car" market :thumb:

We have looked after it really well, gave it a bit of a spruce up and it looked brand new for when the guy picked it up.
What do you reckon it's worth?
2007 (57) A180cdi Avantgarde, 20000 miles, kind of a dark metallic grey, 5dr.

Thats sounds cheap for a buyer, I've been looking and most are classic trim, base spec A150's or 3 doors.. if you do find a CDi for 8K its on big miles.

for 8K I would have it :)

So an A180CDI costs around £20k new and is worth around £8k after two years/20,000 miles.

Back in March 1999 I took delivery of a new W168 A170CDI Elegance, which with a fair few options (but by no means fully loaded) came in at a jaw-dropping £21,600. It was a factory order, and this was before Mercedes decided to 'correct' (ie: reduce) the A Class list prices. Almost 5 years/24,000 miles later, I was quite disappointed to be offered just £7.5k for it when I traded it in. Its residual value was clearly not helped by the price reduction, plus the fact that it had to contend with the plethora of EasyCar-emblazoned rental A140 Classics that were buzzing around at the time (remember them?).

The fact that the far better-built W169 A180 CDI can be bought new for less than I paid for my car over 10 years ago speaks volumes about what good value-for-money cars are these days, yet for it to be worth just £8k after two years is quite worrying... unless you're buying used, of course.

Sub-20,000 mile 2007 A180s on autotrader.co.uk seem to be listing at around £11k from dealers, which would equate to a trade-in price of £9-9.5k. A little more encouraging, but not much.

There's a very smart-looking 2006 one on there with 81k miles for £7290. And a 16,000-mile 2009 A160CDI for well under £10k.

11K is more like it for a private buyer.

Like I said most I have seen are classic trim (very basic) and not the A180's for 8K

What A210AMG said is true. I have been looking for one for a while now and you wont find a decent spec low mileage A180 for £8k.

I have just put a deposit on a A180 CDI today subject to viewing it on the weekend. Very nice spec with nearly all the options but no Parktronic, but the dealer will fit the Quickparc system.

Who did you get it remapped by and what were the power gains? Thanks.

sorry i was way out! trade is 10K...

(wonders why just sold a near identical car but 06 reg for £6500)

Certainly hope so, seems to be doing alright at the moment, although fuel consumption is stratospheric compared to the A class.
Love the seats though, they're like an armchair!!

For a clean 2007-57 A180 CDI Avantgarde 5dr with 20k on the clock your looking at £10k trade and it would retail at a MB dealer for £12 - £12.5k.

If it was 3dr, Classic trim or with a much higher mileage, then perhaps £8k (or maybe even less) would be correct, but in this instance its worth quite a lot more than that. Used prices have increased in the last 12 months.

i drove a rental A class auto the other day - teh auto box is obviously a CVT and boy dont you know it - horrible. The manual version of the original version LWB A class was a great car though - esp with the folding front passengers seat
