Hi,

Just a quick question to those of you that know, how easy or hard is it to change a front SAM in a w209 CLK 2004 ( pre face lift) and will it need coding before it will work?

Many thanks for a great and useful web site.

It's a easy change however you need the sam coded to the car so your looking for someone with DAS.

Remember you don't need to have a new SAM, as long as its from your year onwards.

Hi. New to here. I've got major electrical issues on my 2004 W(A)209 CLK Convertible dashboard. Warning lights for SRS, Headlamps, Indicators, Roof Open, Head Restraints, and also nothing on my heating panel works at all, no rear screen, heater, A/C. The Audio Head unit also kept turning off? I spoke to my main dealer today and they advised a diagnostic check, (obviously they would), but were fairly confident that is was either a battery issue, (unlikely as it's a genuine Merc 2013 battery), or the front or rear SAM module, (or both?). Having seen the prices of the SAM modules, I was wondering if anyone had an ideas? I'm desperate, (and skint). Having trawled the web for hours, I only saw one similar issue mentioned on another forum saying it could be the Audio Head unit malfunctioning?

Unless you get it hooked up to the diagnostic there is no way of knowing where to start. Start a thread asking if anyone has a das unit or if anyone knows of any indi merc garages in your area.

Maybe a stupid question, but what is a SAM?? :dk:
