Scrapped the cruise idea

I tried cruise couple times unsuccessfully and decided its too complicated so prolly not bother - noticed it was lit up yesterday when I was drving manually - driving down the mway today and switched it on where on it promptly started to slow down which was very unerving in traffic - same again when I tried later so abandoned the whole idea

How complicated does a cruise need to be?
Single button on which disengages when using and pedal (accelerating or braking)
=
Accelerate to desired speed engage cruise (press a button)
Want to go bit faster/slower then accelorate/brake and press it again

It does not get simpler or faster or more intuative than this

I do not know how this cruise works but I know this

If it is simpler OR faster OR more intuative than the algorithm I just described I will buy everyone on this forum a brand new merc of their choice

Just another case of a design by a person with too much technical ability and not one ounce of common sense

What nonsense is this?

The MB cruise based on the control stalk is about as simple as it gets - way better than the fiddly buttons and two mode setups used by many other manufacturers.

How much simpler could it be?

Or am I missing something and they've gone and changed it when I wasn't looking (in which case a big )?

Lit up? Do you mean a little yellow light on the stalk? And "LIM" lit up on dash? If so - that's the speed limiter, not cruise.

Cruise is dead easy. Up (or down) to set your speed. Forward (or touch brake) to cancel.

You can increase speed by up, and decrease speed by down, but you can simply brake or accelerate to your new chosen speed then set CC to your new speed (by up or down)

I'll have a black SLR, please

I'll have a CL63 please...

The CC is dead easy. Drive to speed, flick stalk up. Want to go faster, flick stalk up, slower, flick down.

It helps if you haven't got it in LIMiter mode... :D

It couldn't possibly be simpler.

A 2014 G63 AMG in Obsidian black with gunmetal alloys please.

Ahhhh. Penny drops
'noticed it was lit up yesterday when I was driving manually'.
Sounds like somebody needs to be applying themselves to reading the manual than thinking up control algorithms.

:D

Merc cruise control is without any doubt the most logical and easiest to use of any car I have driven, as with the limit (which I suspect you engaged). It never ceases to amaze me the amount of posts where the poster just couldn't be bothered to read the drivers manual. Forgiven when using a dish washer or coffee maker but driving a lump of metal weighing in excess of a ton at 70 mph! Scary.

I would think reading the manual in a lump of metal weighing over a ton at 70mph is more scary than not doing so.

I've scrapped the cruise idea too:

I did mean read manual before driving. Most drivers reserve the 70mph for using their mobiles.

You are a very generous individual. An ML63 AMG for me please. :)

Same thing happened to me with the stereo. Switched it on and was nearly blasted from the seat due to the excessive volume. Decided to try and solve the issue using the owners manual. Tore out several pages and cellotaped them over each speaker. Still too loud so decided to abandon the idea and switched it off again. Anyone that can explain where I'm going wrong can have a twice chewed midget gem of their choice.

I believe the case against you is proven beyond reasonable doubt, assisted by your frank admission.:p

Cavansite blue SL65 AMG with all the toys and tan leather, please.:bannana:

Cruise control ... Simplezzz!

Incase this is a generous Multi millionaire really wanting to buy us all new Mercs then

I won't be greedy ... Il have a 2nd hand C63 BS in red with all the trimming please .

Many thanks

Ps. If your filling the tank then V power only ;0)

ditto, thanks.. anything AMG, lots of horses, just a couple of seats, black or silver and not running on electricity

Thanks for the heads up ill give it another try
Unfortunately noone gets a Merc because, as I anticipated, the actual method is neither as simple nor as fast as the 'one button' method I described

Your method makes use of 3 devices (button, accelerator & brake)

The Merc system using one device - the CC stalk.

Merc CC also allows you to keep both hands on wheel and feet off pedals for added safety and comfort.

You do realise, that just like if you made your statement on email, your posting here is a legally binding contract under English law.

I'll have an SLS or SLR - not fussed, either will do.
