How complicated does a cruise need to be?
Single button on which disengages when using and pedal (accelerating or braking)
=
Accelerate to desired speed engage cruise (press a button)
Want to go bit faster/slower then accelorate/brake and press it again
It does not get simpler or faster or more intuative than this
I do not know how this cruise works but I know this
If it is simpler OR faster OR more intuative than the algorithm I just described I will buy everyone on this forum a brand new merc of their choice
But the Mercedes one IS simpler and IS faster and IS more intuitive.
Press accelerator to reach desired speed. Press cruise stalk up or down (same speed as pressing a button)
Cancel - Touch brake pedal OR push cruise stalk away.
Now this is where Mercedes one gets more intuitive and faster.
To raise speed -
Option 1 - Accelerate and press cruise stalk up or down. How fast depends on how your car accelerates
Option 2 - Raise in 1Mph increments by pushing lever half up.
Option 3 - Raise in 5mph Increments by Pushing all the way up. Can do this in rapid succession which means you could set a 30mph increase faster than your car can accelerate to that speed, unless you own an AMG perhaps even then i think the stalk method would win.
No requirement for any input with throttle by the driver as the car does it for you
To lower speed
Option 1 - Brake and reset the cruise
Option 2 - Lower in 1Mph increments by pushing lever half down.
Option 3 - Lower in 5mph Increments by Pushing all the way down. Not necessarily faster than braking but again a 30mph decrease could be rapidly programmed and the car will brake for you. Again reducing driver input so is definitely more intuitive.
I'll have a fully loaded E63 AMG with every option ticked please. Matt Palladium Silver with Black Fine Nappa leather.
Thanks. PM me for delivery address etc
