I'm trying to sell my 2002 facelift 270ML but the drivers seat is half leather, and the leather is peeling is there any way to repair or can I get a seat cover cheap as it has already put one buyer off.
I dont really want to spend a lot of money.

Any chance of a photo? Has the leather been treated and looked after? I presume it has become dry and cracked? Hence peeling.

A seat cover may cover it up but it won't match the other side and will look suspicious, and prospective buyers will no doubt want to have a look underneath!

Post a pic. Something like " Poorboy’s Leather Stuff Cleaner and Conditioner" (google it) should vastly improve it.
A photo would be helpful but I am 90% sure that product would vastly improve things.

oh my that is pretty serious (more than i thought), it wore out pretty quick for a 2002 year car dont you think ?

Ive seen cars wich are very old, still holding the leather pretty well

When i bought it was already like it but was just so eager to buy it, it did not put me off.

Silly me did not think I would have to sell on so quick.

So do you think I need to recover.

id say you need to get it repaired yes, it can seriously make the price of the vehical go down and make some buyers want to drop the price a bit also

Does anybody know where I can get a cover or someone who can recover the seat.

Thanks

Hmmm, there are a few people on here who do retrimming,

How about a scan through the yellow pages? They may be able to redo that section rather than whole seat.

It's not actually leather - it's a synthetic material - and I'm surprised that's happened. I would be very surprised if it's wear alone though.

An obvious suggestion but it may be worth asking you local MB dealer - may not be too expensive as it's fabric and pr.obably won't have an integrated heating element either

Hello,

How many miles is your car on, Have to say that would put me off looking at the car.

Thats worn very badly to be fair, looks almost like sun damage?

I was going to get a side bolster retrimmed on my last car and got a quote for £90 plus VAT. They match the leather so don't need to do the complete seat as thay would be $£$£$£

Well worth getting a quote. If you put covers on them I (as a buyer) would want to look under them anyway and if your hiding that what else are you hiding?

Best to either leave it on show or try and get a repair?

Cheers

Thanks for all your help just got local retrimmers and they are going to charge £70 to repair.

Take the seat cover off and replace that panel, it was sold to me as half leather is actually vinyl, im such a sucker.

My car has done 70,000, do you know how much I should be selling this car for, ive got in the trader at £13,000 which I thought was reasonable but everyone who rings says its a bit steep are they just trying it on.

Its ML270CDI facelift 02 51 plate od black, interior good cond., a few scrathes on the bodywork but only noticable in direct sunlight, full MB history.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Car Giant in London are selling a car similar to yours, 67k miles on clock, 03 plate £13,700. Your price is a tad high if people can buy with piece of mind from a trader. £12,500 would probably look more attractive on paper. Good luck.

Sounds about right looking at others advertised, perhaps knocking it just under the 13k mark will make it look far more appealing ie £12750 or similar. Or you can wait and hold out for the best possible price.

Good Luck

Best bet is to have a browse through AutoTrader and see what you're up against and price yours accordingly.
