Seizing an Insured Car?

In 1999, I bought my aunt a car as a gift from my mother's estate. We bought it in Lancashire and had to get it, and our car, to Norfolk. What a rigmarole with the insurance. I was actually told that my husband (the insured) could drive the vehicle in one trip (no stops!), but that I could not as a named driver. So, he had to do the six hours in a Fiesta, whilst I drove the big Toyota we had then separately. I would have been much happier driving the Fiesta. We couldn't use Aunt's insurance as it was a surprise.

This was the decision of L:V insurance, not the police of course. Odd instruction though and not a particularly safe one I would have said.
