traffic police shift - aka holding on to grab handle with sweaty palms

Why do have to get a second hand view from Robert when we can get first hand view from pammy, unmarked or plodd? :D

Are they too lazy to type?

Because a fresh pair of eyes is refreshing?

Not funny, thats not even the usual standard of Dragon plain "annoying" - its just trolling for the sake of it

Go crawl back under your stone and moan about Tescos or something. Preferably not on the internet.

Parking services manager

Do you get to work with the friendly blonde lady in the small office behind the town hall, you lucky man you.

As for the hidden A47 place....ahem..where abouts is this?

Dragon - if you've nothing nice to say then why don't you just go and get lost.

You know nothing about any of us or what we do with our lives. Some of us do have lives outside the internet you know. Adding vaue to a thread is something some of us do with greater skill than others. And often saying nothing does just that!! You should try it sometime.

And note the appropriate use of smileys.

Thanks Mark.;)

Robert you wanna get yourself into an inner city secondary school; That's an experience too. In fact when I think about it there are quite a few similarities.

Perhaps his job was on the line?

At least you got some pleasure out of it I suppose...

Well, presumably he would have thought about that before using the phone then.

People really need to start taking responsibility for their own actions instead of hiding behind civil rights issues when caught doing something they know they shouldn't be doing.

Robert didn't say he got pleasure, he said the man was pathetic. I agree.

The Police don't make the rules, they just enforce them. That's their job.

good to hear what happens on the other side, i wouldnt mind spending a day doing that :)

They all should go for retraining and hand out "Have a nice day" note and a sweet or a choc on the windscreen instead of handing fines and summons. :D

Thanks Robert - nice to get a civvy's view (well half civvy anyway :D )..an interesting read.

How does that generate revenue?

What revenue? Haven't you paid enough? I have. :D

Just watched the Top Gear on Dave channel first aired in 2003 with Rory Bremner as the star in the reasonable price car. Where did the police learn to speak in that special way? Surely they should also be trained to behave. :D

An interesting post.

I have nothing but praise for the police in general. It's a difficult job and it can be very difficult to remain calm yet remain polite in some of the more extreme situations they happen across.

I remember when I was a medical student, many, many years ago, I got stopped for doing 36 in a 30 zone whilst driving a very old Fiat Panda. The traffic officer remarked that the public highway was not a substitute for Brands Hatch, he then duly clipped the back of my head with his palm and sent me on my way. Thing is, I still remember that lesson to this day.

You were lucky to get away like Rory, he did 35 in a 30mph zone and he made the excuse he was in a hurry to get home to watch Pride and Prejudice. :D

nice post and nice read.

I think many people,(at least myself) do not see the trouble with the cops per se, it is just the justice system as a whole and the fact that the fromtline cops are not screaming their voices and raising the issue over what they will like it to be.
In my time i have met many different kinds, good and bad, polite and rude e.t.c.

One i came out of my drive in 2003 and i had the fogs on (it was foggy) but cleared later. I came across a road block with a copper standing there.
He came to me and said road closed you have to turn around.
then it went on.
cop: is it foggy?
me: it was when i left
cop: bull sh1t (exact words) turn them off.
me: okay, what is happening here then?
cop : nothing here.
me: that's bull sh1t as well and you know it.
cop : big grin and laugh on his face, you are funny mate, nice one.
me: big laugh and have a nice day
cop: you too mate.

just wondered what would have happened to the woman driver had she parked, came out to use the phone and got hit on the head by a hoodie and the phone snatched?
Sure the cops may have caught him and taken him to court, but what will happen then? A warning most likely.
Not the fault of the police though and that is what gets people mad, as they think (rightly or wrongly--not sure myself) that the police are targeting those that will be easy to deal wih by way of fines and records as they know the harder ones will be let off by the court.

Its like a war. always hit the easy less defended targets first to score a psychological blow on your enemy. Worked in falklands

Ooooh, interesting, yes I work in Chauffeurs Cottage. Who's the blonde lady? There are a few :D

And I couldn't possibly mention the waiting location on the A47 - only that it was near to the A1 junction ;)
