Don't know exactly when it happened but I took out a 4 year service plan on my C Class last October but I see the price has increased by 16% from £30 to £35 per month for new contracts. Also the better value 4 year plan seems to be no longer available so £1260 now buys 2 A services and 1 B service. The prices seem rather shocking to me.

Think the key words there are 'new plans', mine shouldn't raise any higher than it was when I started

Buying a three year plan when the next service due is an A service is a bad investment

Last month I traded my E220 a mg sport coupe that had a four year service contract at £30 per month Inc vat, for an E350 9G, coupe its now for 3years at £35 per month, I assumed it was costing more, due to bigger engine, V6, but maybe you're right, it was never mentioned at the time, strangely the paperwork gives the price as £29:17 p/month but, put the vat on and its £35. Will wait for 1st bank payment to see what goes out. PS. Mercedes gave it its 1st service at 1 yr 8500 MLS when I bought it, so at least I should be getting two B's and an A' maybe not quite such bad news after all.

Just picked mine up used on Saturday from non franchised main dealer (E350 CDI) and when I was researching, I thought I was looking at this for around £45 per month for 3 services in two years (20K pa), now I've picked the car up it has gone up to over £50 pm which is kind of dissuading me from staying with Mercedes main dealers and using Indies. From what I'm reading on here, I would probably take a day out to Horndean when the service comes up. Assyst says next service for me is a B7 whatever that is!!!

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the inflation rate, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index, fell to 0.3% :wallbash:

Can you confirm it specifically calls out that it includes two A services and one B?

I was contemplating joining to start at B service, then A, then B again for the third year. But if they specifically call out two A and one B looks like that option won't work.

It says the next 3 services so timing is now critical in getting the best value.

Last October when I was buying my C Class it was £30 per month for a 2, 3, or 4 year plan for cars under 1 year old. For cars over 1 year old it was either £33 or £35 per month so assuming it was £35 per month the price has been raised to the price for cars over one year old.

This means it would be madness to now buy a service plan on a new car as it would be better to pay for the first service and then for £35 per month get 2 B's and 1 A service.

They are actually cheaper for 2014 e class. I pay £37 for 4 years, now its £35 but maximum 3 years.

I looked up what it would cost to do a B service direct with my local dealer for my previous E240 V6 petrol W210 - £1300! In that light it looks good value.

I can't get prices for my new car because the cherished plate confuses the system.

There is an option in the tool where you just select the model type without having to enter a number plate.

I think the 4th B service is more expensive than the 2nd B service as the transmission oil is also changed but someone else would have to confirm this as I could be talking nonsense by thinking about another make of car I was once interested in.

I think we all know that main dealer services are a rip off, taking your figure of £1300, for the big service,I looked at the bills I have had from my local indy and roughly,I could have the air compressor changed, the gearbox oil ,and a B service for that money and still have a few quid for breakfast,I know with new cars it is deemed important to have main dealer services, but the numbers quoted by them are just plucked out of the blue :wallbash:

I thought they said mainly due to a fall in flying air fares, AMG owners should be ok then! :bannana:

Don't forget that Mobilo European cover is included with a main dealer service as well, although clearly not "free" as part of the service as they would like us to think

considering an A service is 0.9 hrs labour and a B service is 1.9 hours it's not really good value but that said if you include your breakdown the equivalent AA cover is £129 it's up for debate

I bought the 3 year service plan then I bought my car. It costs £30 a month, and allows me 1 service a year at any Merc main dealer and a loan car. Having had a few "duds" before (none of which were Mercs), and finding out how much a regular A and B service costs, I did my sums and thought, well if all goes to plan and nothing really goes wrong, I haven't wasted any money, in fact I may be ahead a little. However, if things do go wrong, I'll be quids in.

Absolutely no complaints from me at all.

Nearly forgot about software updates as well which can take hours!

With the breakdown cover in our service plans, I take it that the only place a broken down car can be recovered to is an MB dealership?

Probably does but it also covers overnight accommodation and a replacement car if required, very useful if you are away and it goes wrong
