Service Plus cost...

ServicePlus

Hi, just been quoted £54.03 inc vat for 4 years service plus, for a B180 SE (new car) on 12,000 a year, extra mileage was quoted at £2.88 per KM
5 years is £65.04 inc vat.
What does everyone think, is £648.36 a year worth it?
If I had been offered this on my last car a Saab 93SS I would have bitten there hand off, and made money from it!

I would check the figure for extra mileage. I was quoted 4.29 pence per km. Not £x

Just picked up the ML following a visit to the dealer, and all covered by Service Plus:

B-service
New auxillary belt and tensioners
Replaced a sticky inertia reel seatbelt
New disks and pads all round

That lot justified Service Plus even if you never need anything else doing for years. :)

Yes; makes you think. A typical B sevice would be about £450 to £500. Anyone know a rough idea of what the others would cost?

I got a copy of the invoice. ;)

Remember that Service Plus pay warranty rates for parts and labour, which is a little over half price, ie about £55 per hour labour versus £96 per hour.

The invoice was for £1350-ish if I remember right, so got to be looking £2k-ish at retail rates, or a little less accounting for my usual discount.

If memory serves, the belt was around £200 by the time it was fitted, and the brakes were close to £1000 when I got a quote a few years ago. Inertia reel belt, absolutely no idea!!

PS If all that wasn't enough, we had bulbs replaced by Service Plus too, a few months back!! :D

Just got a Service Plus quote today from Vikings Canterbury, for my new 2nd hand or previously enjoyed A180CDI Elegance Auto 3 door showing 5500 miles since registration back in January 06.:bannana::rock:

Based on 10,000 mile per annum. Service Plus will cost £43.00 +VAT per month & Standard Service about £10.00 less per month.:)

The very nice chap at Vikings will be contacting me again with a quote for based on 5/6,000 miles per annum.:D

What has been previously mentioned about waiting before a few months before 1st. MOT has been noted.;)

The thought has occurred to me that as Vikings is a family owned MB approved Service Centre & not a Main Dealer, as per MB Canterbury (Dutton Forshaw, with quite a few branches in Kent) If there is enough Members from Kent here, perhaps we could enquire about possible Club Discounts & the like???;)

I thought it was a Mercedes-Benz\Daimler Chrysler organised warranty? :)

John

For to my last, above: The minimum annual amount driven they will consider for Service Plus or Standard is 2000 miles per annum

That is very odd, Everyone else who has asked on all the threads I have seen has been told the minimum mileage is 10,000 per annum. Are you sure this is the Mercedes Service Plus scheme?

Indeed yes, that is what the man said. He called me back after speaking to Mercedes & I await his call tomorrow (he is not at work today) regarding a quote for a Service Plus contract based on a lower annual mileage.

He is the Service Manager at the above named Vikings. I was slightly taken aback when he mentioned the 2000 miles, but thought who am I to doubt the man.

He also informed me about some changes to Mobilo Life & will be sending a copy through of their update. I am not sure exactly what that it is, but it followed on from an inquiry I made about recovery after (Heaven forfend) an accident at home or abroad. In my Service handbook (for a 2006 Car) it stated the usual about Mobilio not attending accident etc. He thinks that may well have altered, but will be getting back to me.

I am very much a "belt & braces" bloke & was seeking a recommendation for a recovery service for Home & Abroad.

I too, am a tad confused, but tis the first time I have started to delve fully into what "benefits" further to the obvious are available (& at what cost) to me a punter on a fixed income (early retired on reasonable pension)
