Shell Drivers Club Card rewards question ; how to correctly put the card in the pump

Hello; I hope someone on this forum may be able to help? I note some threads relating to the Shell Drivers Club Card reward system but none seem to have the answer I seek .


I am having problems when I do my self service at the pump with inserting the Reward Card in the correct way at the pump ; my card points go to my chosen charity and not to me so that charity is now missing out on my ' donations'!!

Does any one have any link to a video that shows the correct way to enter the card into the pump or a good source of information that can help me with this please? Sadly I note nothing of use on the shell site itself either

I believe one has to insert the loyalty card after inserting the payment card.

Why not ask the shell staff to show you next time? That is if they speak english

Do it quickly. They steal all your points back if you do not use them within a certain time-frame. I believe that is about three months.

I've never had a problem using my points...... And I get lotsa points

That I do know but which way does one insert the card?

That is my question ...

What I would like is a link to a demonstration video etc ( that so far I cannot find even on You Tube) that shows you exactly how to put the card into the reader

And a PS; the petrol station staff ( no disrespect meant to them ) seem unable to give me a useful answer either ; I can put my payment card in the right way but not the shell acrd so I need to know what is the correct way to put the Shell club card in the pump in the correct way to get my Points for my chosen charity ?

What way do you hold the card; Shell face up or down and which way is the black reader stip on the card to the left or to the right ?

It's (the Shell points scheme) not a user friendly system and has been discussed here before.

I just hand the card over at the till and have no idea how it works, however, I've just received a voucher for £17.00 off my next usage (amongst the other dross they send me).

Have you used the card recently by scanning at a payment kiosk rather than the pump? This would test the card is operating correctly.

1. press pay at pump
2. Insert card and enter pin when prompted
3. Screen shows authorisation of payment
4. Screen will ask if you have loyalty card - press yes
5. Insert card face up, with the strip facing down and on the right hand side
6. Follow the rest on screen
7. Fill up!
