Ok so we know that Mercedes say that you get less power in the 'E' Class (55K AMG) than in the more expensive models. Do we have any proof of this........... dynos etc?

I have heard it said that it is just Bulls**t and it was just to keep the people happy that were paying for the more expensive cars.

If it is true that the 'E' has less power how was the extra generated in the SL/CL etc ???? Or how was the 'E' de-tuned ????

I think you guys can see what I'm saying here................ your thoughts and facts please.

Perhaps I should have put this under 'Engine' rather than General................. oh well.

If you check the US forums most guys there think that the E55 is actually closer to 500BHP. I have also heard that the figures were manipulated so they could charge different prices for various models. This is true for the old 55k engine. In the current 63NA engine all cars are pretty much the same except the C63 which has been detuned

The power outputs for each car will differ slightly due to the different exhaust set up as well.

Regardless of the published power ratings, the USA version of the E55K is a much more brutal vehicle then the SL or the CL. :thumb:

The SL63 ( 525HP/465torque ) has a higher horsepower rating then my CLK63BS ( 507HP/465torque ).

The SL63 weighs in at 4300lbs+ where the CLK63 BS is 3965lbs.
Heads up the CLK63BS is much faster due to a better power /weight ratio.

The E55K weighs 4000lbs+ compared to the CL55 at 4250lbs +...

I would state that the E55K is as fast as the newer E63 even though the published power is lower....

Come on guys........................... we must be able to get more info than this.................. no offence to those who have posted. :thumb:
