On cold and damp mornings, and only on cold and damp mornings, for the first mile or so in the higher gears the revs jump a small amount (less than the width of the tach needle) repeatedly when the engine is under a slight load, not enough to make it change down. It's like a clutch slips, then grips...........slips, then grips, repeated every second or two. Backing off the throttle, or increasing it stops it happening. As soon as there is a bit of heat in the system everything is good as gold.

I had the transmission fluid changed at the last service, but it still occurs.

Should I be worried?

C200 CDi '04 5 speed auto, 95000 miles.

There maybe some fault codes logged. Worth a look.

oh and it could be a possible TC problem

Thanks for the quick reply.

No codes showed up at the last service, but I'll remind you in 7500 miles time when I'm in for the next one ;)

The rev rise is a very small amount, and it only occurs under very specific conditions for a mile or two at the most.

Could be slightly too low on g/box fluid, but you'll need to have it dipped to find out.

hello my C class did the same thing, had a G/box oil change done with no difference so i took it back. I was told there was a different oil developed for the occasional rogue gearbox that refused to behave as normal, i had this oil fitted soto speak and the problem disappeared as soon as it was done, if you search for my post a few weeks ago it has the new oil part number listed.
