Slight Miss on W202 (2000) C240

A friend of mine has suggested I use something called K Seal if its the head. The head on his Jag started to go last year and he used it and it has been fine ever since with over 15k miles since he put it in.
I have read mix reviews but the negatives seem o be from those who have not used it. Anyone here have any 1st hand knowledge or experience of this stuff ?. I know it has worked in my friends car but it almost seems too good to be true if you know what I mean.

I very much doubt the HG has gone. They are very very robust. I have never seen one go. The creaminess in the oil filler cap is quite normal and nothing to worry about. You need to reduce your oil level though. Did you not check the oil level? The engine has to be hot.

A slight miss fire is also fairly common place on the 112 engine. When did it last have plugs? They are due every 50k or every 4 years. Quite often too the leads break down a litte and make it miss a bit too.

The OE or Magnacore are the only sets that I would use. I find that the aftermarket leads available are poor.

The OE leads are £300 ish though.

I have fitted new leads, plugs, coil packs just 3 weeks ago.

Will do another compression test tomorrow morning and will reduce the oil level. I also now have new injectors to go in whether the car needs it or not.

First of all, THANKS for all the input from members. What a great forum full of helpful people who are not full of self importance. I own and run a 4x4 club and I am pleased to say that I have the same quality of members.

Now about my problem.

I am gutted that I did not think to explore a more simple option.

Did a compression test and all came back at 200psi. Checked all leads, coils and plugs yet again even though they are all brand new and still run ragged.

In the end for some reason I decided to check the breath pipes....BINGO !

Blocked and full of grunge and not sucking air at all. Cleaned them all out and now I have a different car......loads of power...missing is now gone and runs like it should do.

It was such a simple & obvious thing that it was too simple and obvious to think of first !

Hope you don't mind me hanging about as I am not one of those guys who join a club just to get help.

Cheers all.

lol no problem 8-)

It was one of those things that never crossed my mind and reading this forum and others with members having the same problem I have not seen one post suggesting that these pipes should be checked and, like me, people have replaced many parts which were not needed and would have saved them and me a lot of money !

Have no idea where they are on the 1994 W202 C180 as mine is the C240 with twin heads but I should think that most are the same and run across to connect to the rocker cover. Simple to remove as are the metal cover plates its attached to.

I am sure someone will be able to point you to a picture or diagram if there is not one on here already.
