SLK 230 (petrol - W reg - 2000)

These are the symptoms: most dashboard warning lights showing; radiator cooling fan running from when ignition is turned on; jerks into and out of gear from neutral; battery ran down with ignition turned off.

Bristol, UK based: We have had very heavy rain, deep curbside puddles that have sloshed into the wheel arches with some pressure.

Everything else appears to operate correctly, and after a couple of hours of charging the battery the ignition fired up OK and some of the dash warning lights went out.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

That needs hooking up to a diagnostic computer rather than guessing, but I suspect an alternator fault.
