SLK R172 Mirror Package?

My wife is now settled nicely into her 13 plate SLK with just one issue.

We thought the optional Mirror package included the mirrors dipping down when reverse is selected, but no.

Can anyone tell me if there is someone somewhere that maybe able to make this happen? our merc dealer just shrugs his shoulders and said thats how they are but my wife has kerbed her wheels so needs the mirror dip!

If you have it its selectable from the menus on the instrument display. Its part of the electric memory seat package. If no memory seats then no dipping mirrors in reverse

Thanks, I was hoping there maybe a way to enable the dipping mirrors if it is just software related as the hardware is already there.

You need the memory button from the memory package to be able to program the dipped position memory. Also, the mirrors have a feedback device to report the position to the door controllers. In the old days the memory positions were held in the memory seat controller, but I think they are now held in the door controller.

So, long and short of it, you probably don't have the feedback sensors in the mirror (even though EPC (parts catalogue) doesn't show the mirrors as different between folding and memory, that applies only to replacement parts and the factory does fit more specific mirrors)
