Boris has been up changing quite lumpy for a while, no smoothness.
After waiting for months for a suitable day (After I purchased a new seal and oil off Fleabay) I thought the hour or so to change the filter and oil would be a doddle...... NAH!
4 out of 6 bolts heads broke off due to alloy affinity and corrosion (and the fact that MB make bolts out of swiss cheese of course) All were copiously WD40d and tapped repeatedly with a small knockometer prior to applying torque.
Pics explain most and after some 4 hours all is well and the gearchanges are smoother than a smooth thing on a smooth day in smoothland, even smoother than me
A well worth the effort exercise and at 98000 well overdue.
Sealed for life........I don't think soooooo!
