hi can anyone help ive snapped the injector bolt in the hole trying to tighten it because my injector was blowing now i dont no what to do

Its going to need redrilling and tapping.
There are mobile specialists that should be able to help
Otherwise its a going to need a visit to a suitable garage.
Sorry

ok do you know what size drill to use

Please don't take offence but do you have the correct equipment to tackle the job? And more importantly what to do to stop it going wrong?
The original bolt is usually 6mm
Depending how you plan to remove or dispose of the broken section of bolt will decide on the drill diameters you need.
Even trained mechanics get the specialists in to do this type of job

Where abouts are you?
I'm sure if you are in the vicinity of one of the Indy's who contribute to the forum they may be able to offer suggestions

Can anyone offer any solutions in the Stevenage area?

Hi I have just been through the same pain..
Many ways to skin this cat, this is what I ended up doing..

Measure how far / how much screw is in and get a good idea on how much you need to remove.

1) Buy, one of these. Gloster Pack of 2 BS3 HSS Centre Drills x4 inch long | eBay

2) Drill out bolt. Step up to a 6mm hss drill starting with the above centre drill bit then 3-4-6 Finally a 7 mm bits and that was the screw gone.

3) At 7mm I am now clearly larger than the original 6 mm thread. So I am going to fit a 8m V-coil. Motamec Tools M8 x1.25mm Thread Repair Recoil Re thread helicoil insert Kit 25pc | eBay

Follow the simple instructions in the kit or you tube vids, take your time its a simple job.. Good luck! and yes 1 12mm Vcoil and a new shorter 8M SS bolt is more than strong (stronger than the original thats for sure!) enough to hold it all together.

Try the Thread Doctor by searching on Google. I used him to do some work for me and would recommend you give him a call.

Bertros, thanks for the help in your post. I'm ordering the items I need to fix my merc, excuse the dumb question: do the inserts in your link allow you to use the standard 6mm bolt or do I need a different size bolt? ... just making sure

With due respect,it is clear from the question above that you do not understand
the process, the best advise given to you is take it to a specialist pref an MB one
otherwise you could be looking at a new head if you mess up.

I know it's too late for the OP, but it is not a good idea to try to solve a chuffing injector by tightening the clamp bolt. This is a long bolt that is designed for a specific torque application (7Nm followed by two 90° turns in most MB engines, it seems): tightening it further in the hope of compressing a "chuff channel" out of the seal washer is very unlikely to succeed, and very likely to go wrong.

You need to remove the bolt and clamp, pull out the injector, clean the bolt hole and injector seat (cutting tool "needed" in theory), clean up the injector (don't touch the nozzle!), apply special ceramic grease to the injector and reassemble using a new washer and clamp bolt, applying the correct torque.

I am interested in the answer to this.

All my injectors came out with ease and 3 of the bolts but the last one snapped.

I am in the process of drilling it out to 7mm like the above poster said and I am assuming that I would then use an 8mm bolt and wondered if there was any specific bolt I should use?

Thanks.
