Guys, I haven't visited this thread for a while and having just looked at the last posts, it hasn't really evolved...it's going round in circles. 2 sides, both getting nowhere other than generating bad feeling....we've seen posts recently from those who have been reminded that life is just too short. What's done is done, thank goodness, nobody was hurt on this occasion.

May I suggest you save wear and tear on the keyboard on this one?

totally agree, thank you Gucci ! ;)

people sometimes are on a total different wave lenths, The thread needs to be closed as people that just pick up on threads just like to pick at it and then have to protect their reputation.

Regards

Joby.

Here's my thoughts.

Sadly, you were at fault. Simple as that.
You couldn't stop within your seeing distance.

Thank your lucky stars it was just a car(van) you hit.

We all make mistakes and most of the time we get away with them - touches wood.

The comments about the Institute of Advanced Drivers is a good one and should not been seen as insult.
My Dad was taking the IAM course when he was teaching me to drive and he showed me things he had learnt. I love driving and going for the IAM lessons/test is on my list of 'things to do before i loose all my hair'.
I'm sure I'd learn a lot from the experience.

There's someone on here - can't remember who - They've got a saying...

'two things you should never critisise about a man - his lovemaking and his driving'

Credit to you, you've stuck with the thread and replied to the critisicsm.
I'd have gone away in a sulk long ago:o

Be grateful the outcome wasn't worse and learn from your mistake.

Hope you get your car sorted.

Jay:)

i will be looking into this iam, but not that i think i really need it, The drivering lessons/tests should be enough, these extra tests are for people that are worried more than others, or people want to learn extra stuff about being a driver that the instructor didnt get across to you, the gov should implie all aspects of drivering befor they pass you! im not a frail/fragile driver LOL, otherwise they've failed in passing me in the 1st place??

Oh! FFS!! We have been round this track too many times...

Blackbeast, you made a mistake, you were overtaking parked vehicles and so on the "WRONG" side of the road. You should have expected / anticipated a vehicle coming / parked in your way. You were travelling too quickly too stop in time. A mistake, hands up, admit it and move on. We have all been there.

I admire you for sticking with this thread, just acecpt your culpability and good luck and move on....

No it wasn't a reasonable speed. Full stop.

You were driving too fast. Doesn't matter if its a 30mph zone or a 60mph zone, where the parked cars where, how tight the bend was, or who was parked where. If you can't stop within the distance you can see to be clear ahead, you're travelling at an inappropriate speed for the conditions.

There is absolutely no disputing this. You are completely and utterly wrong, and if you don't take steps to remedy this behaviour it will likely happen again.

If it was a cyclist or pedestrian occupying the same part of the road you would have run them down and very possibly killed them.

You need to swallow your pride and learn from this experience, or your driving will never improve.

OK if people think that i was too fast im sorry and apologise, but i was drivering at the time, i was there at the time, and in my eyes, i was doing the right thing. i will put my hands up for those who REALLY want me too, but im sticking at it tho! i was in the right at the time of travelling along the road i was in.
But your guilt trips has sunk in OK to all who were saying "if it was a cycilist" and " if it were a pedestrian"
Just think that next time you drive down a 40mph or 30mph or even a 20mph road, then "HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF IT WERE A KID or PERSON THAT RAN INTO THE ROAD from between parked cars!" you will feel bad too, even if you were doing the right speed limit! we can drive at 10mph and hurt somthing or sombody, we go around in machines! remember!

please as said by other members, everyone has got the jist of this now, so please stop bringing the same crap up. people are starting to get " oh here we go again" type of thing, and people get the wrong idea of others, not a freindly way of being is it?

Regards Joby.

i have a guy coming over to visit the car tonight, and is very interested, hopefully it will go as it is. To the right person with the right tools, time and knowledge, then it will be a VERY cheap car for them. Its a shame i havent got the knowledge and tools or the time really to do this myself.

One thing . . . . . . .

When you manoeuvre a motor vehicle it is called "driving."

No offence meant to anyone at all.

Good luck to all whether or not they take an IAM course or not.

And finally . . . . . all of you drive home safely tonight!

Regards,

KJ
