Sound of water in my E Class coupe

Hello RSTurbo50 /All, I have a 2014 E class convertible which has this very same issue of water swooshing around when I accelerate or decelerate. I have checked boot and areas I can see which is limited and no sign or smell of water. Sounds like it’s trapped in the rear wings somewhere.
Did anyone get the bottom of the issue? Thaka
Hello, I am pleased to say that I did get to the bottom of the issue when I visited my local MB main dealer. After waiting for 45 mins someone came out to offer to book my car in, when I explained that I was disappointed having waited so long just to be told they would book me in, I pr4ssed the issue and explained that surely someone knew what us was. A few minutes later they said that the did know and they could sort it out there and then but it would take up to an hour and cost an estimated £140. When the mechanic came to take may car I popped out and he said he knew what it was and he would show me. Sure enough he got the car up on the ramp and showed me two black rubber grommets at the rear of the sills just behind the jacking point which he removed and clear water came gushing out. He explained that they have a small hole in the centre to let water out but they get blocked hence sill fills full of water. He said they are designed to let water through which surprised me, he recommended leaving the grommets out. I am now in discussions with MB and my local dealer whey I had to pay £140 for what was a 5 minute job and and a known issue/design fault.
For anyone experiencing this worrying and potentially costly issue, easy fix. Happy days.

It's in the Sill, jack it up at the rear corner and it'll come out, i never got to the bottom of it before i sold mine

2011 E220 coupe with sloshing water under slow speed braking. I checked the doors and no water. I got the car over a pit and found 2 rubber triangular shaped bungs/drains that had become blocked. These are located at the rear of the car forward of the rear wheels. I also had to take down the covers underneath the car and the plastic sill covers too. Once I took them out, I got about 1.5litres out of both sills. I cleaned both bungs and removed silt with an air blower and all is good again. Hope this helps.
I posted a response below as well which resolved the issue sounds very similar.

Thanks to both SESE400CAB and MARKAFTERDARK1967 for taking the time to post the fix for this issue. My 350cab had been standing for a few days during really bad weather and ever since I have had sloshing noises in both sills.
Today I found the triangular shaped rubber drain you mentioned and have drained a couple of litres out of the near side, with the offside still to do.
It’s not an easy thing to find with skirts on the car so your comments were invaluable

Thanks to you both.

Thanks - were the black rubber grommets screw plugs that are found in the middle of the jack point? if not - are you able to explain where they can be located? Cheers.

Has anyone got any pics of these grommets,or how to take off the plastic covers over the sills

We've had a fair bit of rain recently as you know. Iv started to hear a wooshing water noise whenever I hit the brakes in my E Clsss coupe I can hear a tide of water. I can't work out where it's coming from. It's under warranty so I'll be ringing Mercedes up but does anyone have an idea of what the issue may be?
Hello,
I posted on this a while back as I had exactly the same issue but mine is a 2014 E400 Convertible. Long story short I took it to Mercedes who knew what the issue was and subsequently removed 2 rubber grommets from each side on the sills which had a small hole that is meant to let water through but get blocked. Design fault in my opinion

Same problem on my 2010 A207. I drilled a hole on each jacking point plastic pad. Through the centre of the screw that holds the jacking pad in place. A lot of water had built up in the sill and water continues to drain out of the holes I drilled each time it rains. Don't know how the water gets into the sill, must just be a 'feature' of the design.

Very common issue. Takes 2 mins to sort out. The sills fill up with an amazing amount of rain water.
