Speed Camera in Horse Box!

Hang on !!

an unidentifiable person peering out of the top door of a horsebox parked on the side of the road with what looks like some sort of gun in his hand !!!.

no f**kin wonder you townies dont mind speed camera's, and get jumpy when you see an abandoned rucksack in a shop doorway !!.

at what sort of safe speed are you able to identify that the person inside is a police officer doing a speed check ??

and not some crazy nutter possibly taking pot shots at unsuspecting motorist !!.

and not some crazy nutter possibly taking pot shots at unsuspecting motorist !!.

This is the UK.

The avg motorist can do the stats subconsciously and work out the that chances of being shot are some way down the list of likely outcomes.

dont speak too soon !!
the way gum crime is gonig in this country it wont be long !!!

as mentioned previously in this thread if you steal a car you might get off with a warning ! how long will it be before carjacking starts here like in america or south africa ??.

The law is an ass... hence the horsebox.

no cash to be made from that.

considering that mrsa is killing 2000 people a year and cdiff is killing 7000, twice more than RTA or global warming there would be more outcry towards this.

I may be wrong but I think there has been an outcry over this though (well if you read the Daily Wail etc:o ). In fact I'd go as far as to say that there has been even more of an out cry.

More people drive past speed camera etc than are effected by or made aware of mrsa and cdiff so the tabloids know how to wind people up and what sells papers. I've watched countless programmes about the problems in NHS hospitals and as far as I'm aware action is being taken buts its a slow on going process.

I'm sure that if mrsa and cdiff could be fixed over night by setting up a yellow box in a ward then it would have been done. :)

I have read this thread an believe that the force in question is wrong in doing this

1. A Horsebox is designed to transport horses not livestock(PIGS)
2. Have the force in question got a valid livestock permit for the pig inside
3. Do they feed and water the animal at regular intervals
4. Is the final destination the slaughter house :)

On a more safety note an unmarked vehicle at the side of the road is not a danger for the individual inside
Not that we would want to see any harm comming to the expensive equipment!

popps

err is it me or has anyone else notice the date of the orig post :)

I do very much hope this is a gag, but I wouldn't put it past them....

oh i wouldn't put anything past the dibble, they once stopped me 3 times in 5 miles between my folks house and JB's club in Dudley on a custom Matchless 650. And once stopped me on the same bike after following me for several miles at night in fog with their headlights switched off  i knew they where there as i'd just seen them pull out and i saw the lights when they put the head lights on about 5 sec before the blue lights. If you think there bad on cars try riding a motorcycle.

When I lived in the UK I regularly got victimised whilst riding a motorbike, made worse by the fact I lived down the road from the traffic police vehicle depot. Once I was followed from Doncaster town centre to the Carcroft depot where I was told to park inside whildt my bike was inspected thoroughly! What could I do...nothing

Now come to Brazil...the same sort of thing happens here, you can be driving a big old rust bucket with no lights on at night, smoking pot or boozing and bugger all happens then get yourself a bike and you'll be guaranteed to be stopped several times in one week! Moral of the story just drive a car in Brazil!

Surely the whole point of any measures to tackle speed is to encourage safer driving?

Where I live there is an accident blackspot, dual carriageway, 40 mph speed limit, housing estate on one side, Macdonalds and a school on the other, where there have been many near fatal accidents when pedestrians cross the road at places other than the controlled crossings.

The local authorities installed one of those devices that flash if you're going to fast and remind you of the speed limit. This has proven so effective that they have not felt the need to install a Gatso there. In fact it is so effective they have started installing them before current Gatso installations.

It is all too easy for speed to creep up when driving at 40 or more, unless you are spending more time watching your speedo than the road, which is not safe driving.

Speed cameras are a blunt instrument and enforcing punishment is far less effective than encouraging correct behaviour.
