Speeding tickets for my car. But it wasn't me.

I'd been watching this with interest. I think the result is as good as could have been reasonably expected.

Thanks for posting the outcome.

Yes indeed a good result. At least it has now been taken care of and he can had a full nights sleep.

It does however enforce my belief that every person should have a licence test renewal every 10 years from pass date and every 5 years over 60 to continue driving on the road.

Why does it?

Why does it?

Our roads change every year in terms of volumes / road types & roadsigns etc. All of us are guilty of lapse driving habits which, as you get older reflexes change as well. I think it would make everyone a bit safer.

This isn't the thread to hijack to have any discussion on this, it's my observation and belief.

He collected three speeding tickets due to not noticing a camera. How would a retest to improve his driving have helped?

Read the Thread intro.

x 4 speeding fines, x two cameras each way, so didn't notice 4 times. - I'll start a new thread to discuss rather than this one if you wish ?

I feel really awful for the guy.

He sounds like a really well meaning guy that will do anything to help a friend and just trips up one morning. I really feel for him.

Yes, it is a sad honest mistake. I guess the appeal may have yielded a more favourable result but his prerogative to take it on the chin.

At least it is sorted for not a massive amount of money - despite the minor inconvenience.

You've done admirably for the old chap considering the circumstances.

Just a shame it seems scrotes getting chase on blues and twos in the video clips on 'Police Camera Traffic Cops Interceptors Action With Cameras' get bugger all for doing far worse...

If he drove at similar speeds during a retest the examiner would surely have drawn his attention to the importance of complying with speed limit.

But if he didn't he would be an expert driver.

These kind of threads are pathetic, as they are just arguing about (mainly stupid), theoretical scenario.

Isn't there a politics forum that people could join?

An examiner doesn't do anything, he just examines unless it is a very dangerous manoeuvre then he won't say anything.

For example; when my friend was taking his driving test, he exited the town centre on to 'Thorne Road' and just got up to 40mph in good time. But that road doesn't become 40mph for another mile and a half, it's a 30mph... The examiner said he'd been exemplary besides that, but he had to fail him.

It wasn't a theoretical scenario. It happened. NIP numbers C16829301, C16829441, C16829026, and C16829441.

I wouldn't waste my time (and the time of others who read it and answered) by making it up.

I would join a politics forum, but I imagine they would not take kindly to my "mainly stupid" questions.

I have only just seen this thread .

I'm glad you decided against attempting any kind of deception as the consequences could have been so much worse ( perverting the course of justice is a criminal matter ) .

The suggestions about having the offences treated as one , or at least fewer , depend on the goodwill of the judiciary , or the PF , since each offence is specific to a time and place .

However all is now done and dusted apart from one matter .

Have you informed your insurer of these convictions ?

You will be contractually obliged to notify your insurer of convictions incurred by any named driver on your policy ; since 9 points are involved I would suggest doing so now and not waiting for renewal .

It is your choice , but be prepared either to take a big hit on your insurance , or to reluctantly remove him from your insurance forthwith .

I would suggest discussing the matter with your insurer , you might avoid a significant hike in your premium ( this year and for the next five years ) if you remove him from your policy in the light of these events . Best to find out how much money is involved before deciding .

How dare you post something that might have been theoretical.

There is only one pathetic, argumentative, stupid post in this thread.

To avoid wasting your time reading it - simply add the 'stupid' group to your ignore list and enjoy a more sensible and productive forum...

I don't recall quoting your post.

Thanks Derek - did notifiy the insurers and paid the additional premium (£90, not too bad as the annual premium is over £1000 for the family fleet).

John has said he probably won't drive again, but I'm hoping he'll come around after his Speed Awareness course.

"These kind of threads are pathetic"

I opened the thread, DM, so it seemed aimed at me. I may have misinterpreted your post - apologies if that's the case.
