having now driven it around i think i really do prefer the soft feel of the AMG one, the grip is much better too..

Jay, This is what's currently in my SEC, it's the previous model AMG wheel and although it doesn't look wrong, I think yours suits these later cars better...however, one of these would be ideal for your W123 - it would be period too.
My car is actually an airbag model and I'd like to refit a decent wheel with the airbag incorporated. I just haven't worked out which one I want yet, alternatively I'll go with the same wheel you've fitted...they look right in black with the black dash.

yes i did miss one of those for my W123 a while back. just let me know how much you want and ill mull it over... the thing is the W123 doesnt have adjustable column and the original steering wheel just lets you see the cluster properly so this would mean id have to keep ducking..
