Hi all,

Help please!

Had a 220 mile round trip on the M25 today.

Noted at outset that washer fluid light had just come on.

As day got darker, turned lights on -I then noted a very intense whirring sound (like a fan) coming into the car, apparently from the passenger side of the engine bay.

I went to Homebase and put washer fluid and water in the receptacle (it was empty) - and the sound went away immediately!?

My question is, isn't it strange that the washer fluid running out coincided with this noise, and that when the fluid was added the noise went away... do the Xenons need this fluid in place to operate corrctly... Help

Ah well hasnt happened since topping up the washer fluid - strange though...

Is the washer bottle heated?

You mean it could make the washer reservoir boiling if the engine temperature reaches 100 degrees? I've never thought about this, never seen my temp needle at or above 100 but but it could go. Is there nothing preventing this?

happened again - and now washer fluid drains out rapidly- seems to be a leak

Totally wild guess - the system doesn't self pressurise, does it? So the noise is the pump running and its dumping the fluid through a leak somewhere along one of the tube runs?

Issue resolved!

The problem was a faulty washer motor. When turning on the lights, the old motor was stuck in an "on" position thus the jet would keep running until empty. The noise of the motor would then be apparent.

Needed a new motor and some adjustment - cost £180 for the MB part :-o
