As i keep saying in all my posts (i should really put it in my signiture). I have just bought a c200K coupe 2001.

I was pretty happy with it until on the way home from work and this is quite sad that it troubles me so much but I struggled to keep up with a 1.8 astra!

Apart from kleeman or Brabus pulley kits which cost £2K is there anything i can do? I suspect not :(

To be honest the market is so limited for tuning MBs in the UK, there aren't many options available, and what there is tends to be expensive.

Supercharged engines can respond well to a pulley kit as you know, but they can also respond well to traditional tuning, ie headers/manifold, exhaust, cats, ported head, sports filter, ECU remap, etc.

Head work will be expensive. Header/manifolds are getting cheap across the pond so maybe worth a few enquiries - in fact I think there's a thread on here about some absurdly cheap ones on ebay.

ECU remaps won't deliver too much extra performance, as the boost is governed by the pulley size - unlike a turbocharged engine which can be managed electronically - so you may not get much bang for your buck.

Avoid sports air filters if you want to play safe with a what's already a sensitive piece of kit - MAF/MAS failures are common.

That leaves an exhaust and de-cat. It won't transform your car on it's own but will make a bit of a difference, and is probably as cost effective as mods for an MB are going to get.

I hope this helps.

Well thats true, its expensive but it might be cheaper just getting the C230K or c320 (i'm more than happy with the speed of mine) :D

Thanks for the help guys.

Do you know if just the pulley alone would be sufficient or would i need to mod the ECU?

I think those torqtec mods are just for Diesels?

So just replacing the panel filter with a K&N panel could lead to failure?

Dont think that you're car is slow mate, it might be just that you're expecting too much of it, i get that sometimes. But when i had a run vs my friend in his 06 civic type R, i was extremely impressed, and that sparked his mates interest (who has a quattro 1.8 turbo audi TT) and i also kept up with that the entire way (was a bonnet infront of him cuz of the initial jump). I'm
Dont you have a c230k manual though which will be a substancial bit faster?
im starting to wish id gone for the 230K but i was told the MPG could be bad on that model
