The kickdown is explosive scared the hell out of me first time I used it.

Amen brother!

The kickdown on my 24 valve is truly phenomenal for such a big heavy car. Speed goes up, fuel goes down :)

But if I compare my car (inline 6) to Shude's car, for example (4 cyl Kompressor) I think the supercharged 4 would have the advantage from a standing start. The 4 cylinders seem to have a bit more get-up-and-go from the line. My power really comes into its own from 50-90, on a motorway slip road for example.

Mine also takes about 2-3 cranks to fire up properly - is this a trait of the big inline sixes?

I am of the opinion that the W124's were probably the last Mercedes built for the motorist, like me, who has a short pocket and doesnt mind the odd tinker under the bonet. Yes I am biased both color wise and style but what you see is what you get :D :D

Ian you need an E300 TurboD.

Everything is just big and simple. Performance of the 280, economy of the 200. ;)

12 in one (S600)
8 in the other (S500)
8 in the other (500SL)
6 in the last (C280)

all i need now is a petrol station! :bannana:

Straight 6 (c36)
Straight 6 (z3)
Straight 4 (Pug 306)

Less popular maybe, but can still be more expensive.
Wifey's C180 was £1,100 more than my 280E, due to it being two years younger and 70,000 miles less. You pays your money....etc

4 turbo diesel 220 cdi

Glad to see I'm not the only one with lots of "toys" :D

6 in SL
4 in CRX no1
4 in CRX no 2
4 in Rover
4 in Company diseasal Astra 1.7

4 in old school Nova - sold next week

SL = 185hp
Rex 1 = 383hp
Rex 2 = 313hp
Rover = 278hp
Astra = 80hp??
Nova = 178hp
