Hello Chaps,

On the hottest day of the year my sunroof has decided to stop working.

The roof has worked without problems & stopped suddenly today after opening just a few inches. I've had to close it using the manual closure.

Checked the fuse which would have been an easy fix but it was fine.

Has anyone solved this issue? I've looked through YouTube etc & I can't find anything of any help. The Merc manual only refers to the fuse.

If it's of interest to anyone with an ML.

As above my sunroof suddenly stopped working. I used the closure tool to manually close it and checked the relevant fuse but it was fine.

I had no problems with the sunroof prior to this so I was a little confused as to why it would suddenly stop after opening a few inches. I looked on the net for some kind of fault finder but there was nothing to be found on the ML so I toyed with the prospect of having to strip things down to check the motor & switch etc.

Anyways, today I sat in the car and decided I'd use the tool to manually open the roof in the raised position. After doing this I pressed & held the button in the open position and I heard movement with the sunroof, it was now working fully.

There's a few techniques regarding re-syncing sunroof & windows. My advice is to try re-syncing firstly before stripping stuff down, it may just need a re-sync.

clean and lubricate th rails hope it is now fully working for a while

Point and press the key fob open to the drivers door handle to see if it opens through this route. If so could be your sunroof switch itself.

Yeah, I'm going to service the moving parts :)

I've tried that & it doesn't work off the fob. Shame
