Seen quite a few people out today riding large sports bikes in shorts and t-shirts,. Have these people never seen Tarmac abrasions ? Or think of the safety implications of falling or getting knocked of even at low speeds?

Every day I see a guy ride to work in chinos, but also a proper leather jacket. 50% there.

I always cringe when they go past, I was unlucky enough to be in an accident that required 18 months to recover. They only thing that saved me from having my right foot amputated was the protective boots I was wearing, they gave just enough protection to only require two further operations.

I don't ride at the moment but even in weather like today, it'd be full leathers and back protector. Had an off about 3 years ago and wouldn't have made it without the gear to protect me.

crazy had a guy go past me today in swimming trunks and flip flops and that was it?

All the gear or take the car is my motto.I cringe when I see all the scooter nutters without gloves.

When I used to ride regularly I'd always wear full protective gear, even on the hottest days.

It's all very well saying the t-shirt and plimsoll wearers are only risking their own skin, but it's thee and me who have to pay for repairing them.

Aye!!

I used to visit a mate in hospital who'd had an off on a GPz900, without having the right gear on.

He spent months on a rubber ring type device as he'd left half of his ass on the road and couldn't sit/lie .

Excruciatingly painful.

Me too, even better when they have proper protective gear everywhere else and still no gloves.

My way of looking at it when popping round the corner was, in order, head, hands, feet and then the rest based on what would get hurt most in a minor spill, longer run full gear but it wasn't how it is now when I first started riding.
