hi

i plan to fit my facelift blinking wing mirrors quite soon (had them for ages just havnt been bothered to attempt the mod!)

i was told that the best place to tap into the existing wiring for the indicators was the wires that run thru the driver and passenger door sills.

Anyone know what wires need tapping into (as there are many in there!).

Its a 1999 W208 CLK if that helps..... colour of the wire if possible?

I've just fitted these mirrors to my W210 and could not find the wire anywhere on either side.
I ran a wire from the mirrors through the dash and joined them to the front indicators.
1 thing to watch out for though. If you have SRS in the doors, be prepared for a trip to the stealers to re-set the light, as mine came on when I took the door cards off.

how much did the stealer charge to reset it?

I see no reason why the light should come on for SRS/side airbags unless you disturb the wiring, I've taken the door trim off my car quite a few times and never had a problem with it!

sorry see below

Hi,

I've just completed this mod on my W210. Let me assure you the wires are there, but funily enough they are further back along the door sill than you would expect. The procedure is:-

Turn the indicator on, take the plug of the rear light cluster, with a DVM find which wire is the indicator and note the colour. If I remember rightly near side was green and black, and off side was red and black.(but please check)

When you know the colour find it in the sill, test it with a meter to check, then just tap in. There are a number of wires that are the same colour so remember to check.

I know you have done it but it may help others

thanks, will be attempting this mod very soon :)

i have now got the blinking mirrors & the indicator lenses ready to go on the car.

i am thinking it may be easier to extend the wires from the existing side indicators, have them go thru under the back of the wheel arches and into the car that way, or maybe route them into the bonnet and then thru the bulkhead along with the rest of the wires, then into the door.

Would you like me to look up the correct wiring and routing for this? Might save some bodges and the 'benz God will smile down on you while you work. For some reason oem mods always work better than B&Q/Halfords type jobs :)
