Anyone interested in going for a few top speed runs at Terminal Velocity 2005?
Proceeds going to charity, with as many runs as can be fitted in for £75 (aka Bruntingthorpe style).

http://www.tv2005.co.uk/

I've got my application form and cheque in the post!
Quite a few nice cars signed up so far from what I hear!

Anyone fancy a blast?

Regards, Matt

Hmm - website doesn't seem very helpful but I'm assuming it's spectator-able, so to speak.

"Bronze Ticket
1 Adult Ticket
10.00 GBP
Admits 1 Adult Spectator.
Free Parking "

Aha - I might b there (trains depending) :).

Event restricted to 75 supercars. I don't think mine will fit into that category!

It says to post details of your car on the forum to see if it's eligable - did you do that Maff?

Theres a few non-supercars on their IMO, with cars like modded M3's, TVRs and Westfields.

As Dave says, might be a good day to spectate.

So there's no chance of my old mans Nissan 300 getting in then!!
I'll post on their forum and see what they say, but mind the cheques gone off now, so either way i'll guess i'll find out...

As you say, should be an interesting spectator event as well, as long as they are 'supercars'

Looks like a fun day ahead. However, even with 75 runners, I doubt you'll get in much more than about 6 runs.

Bloody good fun all the same.

Now all you have to do is beat my PB at Woodbridge ;)

FWIW, no car has *ever* hit 200mph at Woodbridge in all the years they have been running it. That includes Aston Martin testing days amongst others.

There's a target if ever I saw one :D

That looks like one hell of a fun day - expecially if I could attach the NOS pipes to my engine and remove Vmax... :D

Got my ticket in the post this morning, I'm car number 76 of 75 ? !!! :)

You taken yours down the 1/4 Mile at Santa Pod Matt?

Not yet, will be interesting to see what time I get.
Been to Bruntingthorpe runway, so ill see how much I can improve over that top speed!

I'm really trmpted to go to this (if spectator tickets are avilable on the day?) as £10 entrance fee is just about acceptable on my current budget, but it will cost me a tank of petrol to get there and back :(

EDIT: Just found out my weekend has been arranged anyway! Doh!

Just measured both runways using Google Earth. Brunters is 1.85 miles long including runoffs, Woodbridge is 2.00 miles including runoffs, so you should theoretically have a few more mph to play with before you have to hit the stop pedal

For sustained 200mph+ testing, you really need a 5 mile plus straight, eg Ehra-Lessien in north germany (see 52°37'49.28"N, 10°47'17.97"E for GE users) or the Nardo bowl in the heel of italy ( 40°19'25.76"N, 17°49'37.47"E), but something tells me private punters can't turn up and hire them by the hour...

Thats handy to know, I only wondered this today.

Just have to find out where to hire a crash helmet with a kitemark sticker and then I'm all set.

Matt,

Quick Q - I note your target is 185mph - is that a true mph, or as indicated on the speedo ? If so I assume your car is fully delimited (AMG delimit I think only goes to 186mph from 155mph)....

Just curious - friend of mine with a heavily modded Evo FQ340 got an indicated 165mph on a speed run yesterday, although GPS reported 152 ish.

True MPH would be nice, but I guess more like speedo speed. Will keep an eye on the speedo and cross check witht the timing gear to see what the difference is.

Car is fully delimited too. :)

Well, ready to go tomorrow, just hope the rain holds off. Fingers crossed I wont be too embarrassed by the other cars there!!

I've made the car a bit lighter (spare wheel, toolkit and some interior parts are in the shed), and should have 1/4 tank for the runs by the time I get there, which is about enough.

Video's and time slips to follow tomorrow night! :D :D

Hi Maff,
Enjoy yourself, have a really nice day, and if you get the chance, is it possible to take any pictures please?

P.S. Look after 'our' car ;)

Have a really nice day,
Regards from all my family
John

You will not be out classed, althugh you will be adding plenty with some of those cars. I think those Vipers and the Nissan 200SX defending champion could be troublesome!
