I've got a Blackberry Bold 9780 connected to my W203 using the pukka MB specific cradle which uses bluetooth to connect to COMAND.

An irritation is that text messages don't appear on the COMAND screen, as they did when I used to use the Nokia 6310i and appropriate cradle. It's a bit of a pain as my job frequently involves meeting people and they'll often text if they're delayed or meeting point changes etc, which of course if fine for most of the guys who use iPhone's in dash mounted cradles.

Am I missing some functionality here, or do texts just not work in my system?

Thanks - I haven't got one of the generic BT adapters, mine is the Blackberry specific cradle Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes Phone/Bluetooth :: Cradles & Bluetooth Adapters :: Mercedes Blackberry Bold 9700 / 9780 Cradle .

However all the cradle does is charge the phone and boost the signal via the roof aerial.

The telephony side links to the cradle using bluetooth (so it actually works whether or not it's in the cradle, it just doesn't charge and the signal isn't so strong). As a telephone, the system works really well and the quality is excellent.

The lack of SMS is an annoyance though. If it can't do it, then so be it. Just wanted to makes sure I wasn't missing something!

I seem to have the same problem but with a Nokia 6310 Bluetooth cradle after changing from a Nokia 6320 (no Bluetooth). So any advice on if it’s possible to view text messages on screen would be appreciated.

As npuk basically explained already, you need BT SAP today to be able to read received SMS messages (or to send SMS messages) from COMAND. Since you either have a Blackberry or a Nokia phone, BT SAP should be an option for both of you.
