The best way to warm an engine?

Start block heater press rest buton go away for 1/2 an hour return to car fully defrosted and engine nice and warm take p### out of workmates and drive away.

Any other time spray deicer on screen start engine and drive away.

Worst thing about diesels is their warm up time this is what got me into block heater over 10 years ago.

I remember in the late sixties my brother in laws car was the only one that stated with out a problem. He had an Austin A40, Ignition on and hand cranked ,Engine fired up no problems first time and he was away!!!

It could have been that - :D, or a tot of rum, or wrap the car in a blanket.

However, the real answer was:

"5. See 1",

i.e. unsurprisingly, the car still wouldn't start! Bless.
LOL, I wondered if you were going to say that she got it going and then set fire to the hot water bottle with the exhaust manifold :D

My first car was an A40 (when I was poor).
In those days, buying a new battery was a major disaster.
I remember starting it for weeks with the starting handle.
But - It was only a straight-4, 1098cc, A-series petrol engine.
Easy to swing over ... And it NEVER failed.

Them were the days ...
AND ... We were lucky.
Some of us didn't have starting handles ... or even cars ... or even push-bikes.
You know the rest.
