The EV fact thread

People jumping up and down (politicians mainly) trying to convince us that getting rid of petroleum vehicles will save the planet blah blah blah. Fact, this is all designed to put money into the pockets of the likes of Musk and the automotive industry and nopthing more.

They want to make everyone drive an ev thing by year XXXX - hmm, and who is going to force us to buy the things? Are governments going to reimburse us for the money we forked out to buy our current vehicles? NO! Oh and when are these same hypocrits going to force other areas to go EV, you know such as Trucks (all trucks) Buses, Trains (yeah - I can just see govs forking out to electrify rail routes nation wide, especially in the US, Europe and Australia lol); then there are planes and ships and what gov is going to do away with all of its military assets just to appease a handful of greenies and corporate theives? Then of course there are the dumb things like generators, weed eaters, motor mowers etc etc etc. Sure some of them exist but are in the minority because of the price of batteries etc. Speaking of which - mosdt countries are incapable of maintaining a 100% reliable electric grid NOW - imagine the kaos when electricity is the B al and End All of everything??? Emergency vehicles stranded on the side of the road with people dying all around them because the power grid failed because some idiot driving a Telsa relied on the cars ability to drive itself and rammed a power pole!!!!

Yep, gotta love this EV rubbish idea, a whole lotta thought has gone into it all hey.

Look - if people want to produce these things then fine, let them. If people want to fork out rediculous amounts to drive them and think they are doing the world a favor than that is fine as well - their perogative BUT, when governments start trying to force people, that is another thing and what really needs to be addressed.

So, basically you’re agreeing with most of the folks participating in this thread.

Excellent. Welcome to The Gang !

For every idiot replacing a perfectly serviceable diesel or petrol with a hybrid or EV, isn’t there also a canny soul rubbing his hands together and saying

“Eh up, I can buy this well made rather nice motor and drive it all the way up to 250,000 even more cheaply now..”

Computers were suppose to make life easy - all they did was make us stand in check out lines longer and increased white collar crime putting our very existence in jeopardy. Most other "new tech" stuff merely serves to make us more lazy like all the computery in cars that "supposedly checks our oil levels, tire pressures etc. and remote controls and voice activated stuff etc etc etc. I STILL check my oil, tires, coolant, washer fluids etc etc manually because that is what I was taught to do and I sure as heck DO NOT rely upon, nor trust, a damn computer.

Now we have cars that can supposedly drive themselves for people who cant drive and/or can't be bothered learning how to drive. Ask Musk and those who have had loved ones killed how that worked out ...

New tech is great for the minority of people world wide, as it is generally speaking the minority of people (the 20 - 35 yo age group) that actually gives a damn about it and who need (for some reason) to have it. The irony is that with each piece of "new tech" there will come another "new peice of tech" to supercede it and that, I am sure, will be the way of these EV's.

My philosophy is simple - if it aint broke - don't fix it. Unfortunately common sense and logic doesn't play apart in politics or corporate anywhere <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" />

Anyway - I could go on and on about why EV's are a joke and a rather nice source of hypocracy, especially when there are so many other things that could be done to "save the world" but perhaps another time in another thread <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" />
