The EV fact thread

Fair enough.

A good game for Christmas holidays:

Take the kids out somewhere, drive at the speed limit, and ask them to count the number of vehicles that are going faster than you in the course of 30 minutes.

And then ask the kids whether those grown ups were so silly that they didn't realise what they were doing... 27 in a 20, 40 in a 30, 60 in a 50, or 80 in a 70....

I would suggest pointing them in the direction of motorcycles delivering fast food in 20mph areas, but that would be too easy.
Mike I think we are crossing wires here.

I agree with you that most conscientiously speed, but would you not also agree that most would slow down when they see a speed camera before speeding up again after passing it?

Forgive me but what has this got to do with electric vehicles?

:dk:
Wasn't this something to do with diesel owners saying that every week they drive 490 miles in 7 hours, without needing to stop?

Unlike EV's, which have to stop to be recharged for an hour, halfway through every ten mile drive to the pub? (Assuming people can find a charger that isn't broken)

Yes exactly, it was a counter to those saying EVs don’t work because they do 85mph average up and down the country without stopping.

Actually, EVs can do 85mph average down the country (but not up) without stopping... thanks to regenerative braking ;)

Not quite, it was your reply to this post :)

Oh and it looks like these could hit UK roads soon if the road-safety campaigners get their way…. So that’s the end of the supposed 85mph cruisers who slow down for the gantry… 😳

We do, of course already have speed averaging cameras on British motorways, not that the police implement fines and points for most speed cameras. (Else we’d all be stuffed)

Exactly, and we've been able to demonstrate that the police don't really implement fines and points for most speed cameras,

which is why cameras are happily ignored in 20, 30, 50 and 70mph roads.

Else we'd never get our Friday night Curry delivered nice and hot.

Speed itself cannot kill...Apollo 10 reached 24,791mph.....with no harm to the occupants! Something else needs to happen at the the same time before it becomes an issue!

I live on a narrow country lane where the NSL applies ... 30 is pretty fast along there, and 60 would be suicidal. As mentioned above it's inappropriate speed that's the issue, not whether you're breaking the speed limit or not.

But, speed is a contributing factor in every collision.......

But the forma is legal....the latter isn't and will get you points or worse.

Let us try (again) to drag this thread on track . Here is everyone's favourite mild mannered Geography teacher turned rabid anti EV guy. :-)

Not all fact , but the bit about Rolls Royce certainly seems like a fact.
