Thinking of buying this...any feedback, pointers please

Loving the swept turbine wheels on that S class you linked. A slight bit or extra effort for the cleaning, but look superb!

Cue for someone to claim the absolute opposite 😅
And here I am!

I had the Dynamic Multi-Contour seats in both my E63's and they were, without question, the most comfortable seats I’ve experienced in any car regardless of manufacturer or price.
Dynamic multi contour seats are the Dogs dangleys, super comfortable 😁
Yup 👍

Wow - that’s quite an accolade! 😅 These are the seats I’m saying are the most uncomfortable (and mine were the top spec too - 11k miles only and with luxury nappa). Looked nice, just uncomfortable.

Have to be honest, the seats in things like CL/S-class seem to be about the best I’ve found for comfort MB-wise (which makes sense)

But even everyday B/C-class seats seem fine, the 212 seats were just too flat and hard, possibly something to do with the driving position too maybe? Ride comfort wasn’t great on typical UK roads with steel springs up front and 19” tyres either though.

It’s not an AMG thing - I’ve had quite a few of those of all ages. GL63 seats are super comfy, as were both of the 211 E55s and my CLK55.

Each to their own - as I say I know I wasn’t the only one on here that noticed this though! :)

Right - having weighed up the pros and cons of AMG ownership and potential length of service and distances, plus residuals, with all your invaluable inputs, I have decided to....
Get an S class 350d non limo. I'll fix my W212 and run it for a bit longer to get the most out of the money I'm, putting into it and try and sell it privately. WBAC value it @£2k.
I'm not in a rush and there are a few S classes up for sale with decent mileage in the sub£20k bracket.
Is adblue nox sensors an issue with high mileage use vs lower mileage?
Thanks
Obvious suggestion - S63! :D

Haha 🤣

I will accept that it takes quite a while to get the settings perfect because they're all steplessly variable, but once I did they were superb. I drove many 8 / 10 / 12 hr days in those cars and always stepped out of them with no aches or pains and no indication I'd been sat in the seat for so long.

They do look good - I'm looking for something a bit newer which I can get an extended warranty on for less cost - preferably 8yrs /80k

Exactly my findings with the seats. Extremely comfortable. Without doubt the most comfortable I have experienced. 👍

I've settled on a W222 2017 with the V6 or 2018 with the flat 6.... Keeping my eyes open now for one that's not black, with a light coloured interior for around £20k

Finally settled on this... Hopefully my offer will be accepted later today and reserved today.

As much as I like an AMG, I would definitely have chosen that instead of the alternatives for your circumstances.

Regards seat/ride comfort - I’ve not driven one of these but I would put money on that being leagues above an old W212 E63, those massage seats will be welcome on a longer trip too 😎☺️

Any thoughts on this:
The only observation I’d make is that if you think your W212 overhangs the end of parking bays, wait until you try a long wheelbase S-Class

Not had any probs with my W212. Just put deposit down on it now.....I hope that engine is ok! Any pointers on what to check very welcome

Currently on 69K. Should I be worried that it has not had an oil change in 13k / 2yrs? The dealer will service it i.e. oil change, but I need to see what it needs to bring it back to schedule.

Also check to see if the auto gearbox has been serviced or not, not sure if it is 5 or 6 years in service schedule but definitely get it done if no evidence of previous.

I’m sure it’s an ok car, but it doesn’t look as nice as the other one. Spec maybe not as good - LWB pointless unless you’re chauffeuring and the other one had designo nappa leather/massage seat and a lighter interior (isn’t that what you liked?)

20s will be a harder ride and probably more expensive for tyres (and cracks/buckles maybe?)

Not keen on the 2.5 year gap in servicing and Nankang tyres with chunks out of the sidewalls either - doesn’t have the signs of ownership I’d be looking for buying something like a used S-class.

I did prefer a lighter interior but this one does not look too dark. It does have some decent options in too, not sure about if massage seats are there until I see the VIN. That tyre look like the one when first MOT'd in 202 which showed a cracked alloy which must have been repaired/replaced. I must admit the more I looked at this car the more I liked it. I'll be checking the SH to see if ATF was done.

Just my 2 penn'orth...
I've had experience of Williams Group East Peckham (the previous incarnation of PCBS). On the car I viewed the EML was on and it had a noticeable misfire when pulling hard. Admittedly the sales guy said it was booked with the main dealer to be fixed, but nowhere was it mentioned in the ad. It was also advertised as one owner, but had 4 previous listed on the V5. I'm not suggesting this was anything but a clerical error in the ad, but just as a heads up to check everything really carefully when you view the car.
