Thinking of buying this...any feedback, pointers please

I’m sure it’s an ok car, but it doesn’t look as nice as the other one. Spec maybe not as good - LWB pointless unless you’re chauffeuring and the other one had designo nappa leather/massage seat and a lighter interior (isn’t that what you liked?)

20s will be a harder ride and probably more expensive for tyres (and cracks/buckles maybe?)

Not keen on the 2.5 year gap in servicing and Nankang tyres with chunks out of the sidewalls either - doesn’t have the signs of ownership I’d be looking for buying something like a used S-class.
Man, that car is massive..!!
I did think the OP was looking for a light interior but I like the body colour & the black interior - can't get over the size of the car.
Personally, I'd be looking to change those Nankang tyres ASAP & asking the dealer to ensure the maintenance is correct & up to date.
That's gonna be one smooth ride.
I frequently see a slammed S63 in the Poole area, it's long, low, black & looks the nuts.

Just my 2 penn'orth...
I've had experience of Williams Group East Peckham (the previous incarnation of PCBS). On the car I viewed the EML was on and it had a noticeable misfire when pulling hard. Admittedly the sales guy said it was booked with the main dealer to be fixed, but nowhere was it mentioned in the ad. It was also advertised as one owner, but had 4 previous listed on the V5. I'm not suggesting this was anything but a clerical error in the ad, but just as a heads up to check everything really carefully when you view the car.
With the gappy service history and chunks missing on the sidewall of the Nangkang tyres on this one (plus your own experiences) I think it’s fair to say that they don’t seem too choosy with their stock?

Certainly will do that, I'm going to look for an MB specialist to give it a look over before I travel up to view it. If anyone can be recommended in the Wolverhampton area then please do so. Thanks

I did prefer a lighter interior but that has grown on me. I've asked about tyres and for some more pic of all the wheels.. I'm to inform the salesperson as to what service is due - at least an oil change - need to confirm if ATF is due as well as any filters. She said they will service it, but not @main dealer using MB parts.

According to the MB service checker it only requires an A service with Sunroof service now.
A B service was carried out by MB in Oct 2021 @44k, so I'm assuming air/fuel/cabin filters were changed then.
The next A service was done by an indy in Oct 2022 @56k with Ad blue top up. Mileage is now 69k.
I would have thought brake fluid would be due now too.
I'll check with the MB dealer what was done during the 4 services with the first owner.
It had new front discs and pads @last service in Oct 22

Just checked with MB and they last serviced the car B service end of 2023. They did say brake fluid was last done in 2019 and couldn't explain why it hadn't been done at subsequent services with MB to 2023.
Also said ATF is due at 5yrs or 77K so that is also due and the time interval was dropped from 2018 onwards
So to bring back on schedule it will require an oil change with AFT and BF plus sunroof service.
I've asked the selling dealer if they are willing to get this all done and the most they'll reduce price is £180 for oil change. The sales agent needs to speak with management for any additional work.
I'll find out on Monday.

Unless you’re desperate for a car right now, I would wait. There will be others out there with full and up to date service history and decent quality tyres etc for reasonable prices.

The other car looked nicer with lower miles and was £2k less?

The other car went …..plus to keep my W212 on the road I’ll have to spend on two front tyres plus oil cooler seals and MOT end March.

Which will probably be cheaper than buying an S-Class with rubbish tyres and a dodgy service history.

I'm with @Will: There are other - better - examples out there that will pop up if you wait a while.

I’d suggest the other car went because it looked like a good example and was well priced?

This other one hasn’t sold yet - in my experience, good cars you need to move quickly on.

Unless your existing car is literally on its last legs, I wouldn’t rush - presumably it’s worth waiting a few weeks for a car that you’ll likely keep for several years? :thumb:

Your money, your choice though :)

I guess it's a bit of a niche market motor and it's not a great time of year to sell, but it has been "on the forecourt" for 4 months (and they've moved it from Kent to Wolverhampton).

Yes it’s been at Kent in storage due to staffing issues, so I was told. If I don’t get any satisfactory answers to my questions before I see it I may unreserved it - although the dealer stated fee would be forfeited should I not go and see it within 10 days - I hope I don’t have to test them on that.

Actually discovered it had another service @MB Herts in Oct 2023 so only missed 1 service if going by years.

Any update OP, did you go see it ?

I'm seeing it tmrw - I have it being checked over today by a mechanic - not an MB specialist, but he should know his way around it with his 20+ yrs experience. I couldn't find an MB specialist locally who was available.
I've got a one way ticket to Wolverhampton so I'm hoping to buy it all being well.

Well, had a few pics back from inspection:
It looks like this has happened recently as it was not in the pics on website.
The chap said looks like it may have been stuck in mud / ditch. Is the crumpled liner a bad sign of other damage? It drives fine and straight.

What's the picture of in picture 2 of post #156?

The one with the crack?

My first guess is a tyre?
But that can't be an MOT pass?
