CLS 55 AMG
I bought this cls 55 amg and i absolutely love it.
Even though i love the exhaust note I wouldn't mind it with a little more grunt.
I contacted Eurocharged who gave me a quote for two different types of decat/resonator delete welding with xpipe in place, £200 difference in type of weld but one weld would be better have if i wanted more power later on.

Basically my question is would i lose torque by getting this decat done?
Will it pass mot as two cats will still be in place?
And is Eurocharge as good as some people on the forum suggest?

Im new to this forum so im still learning but i would appreciate anyone who has had this work done to give their view.
Thanks all

Any cat delete is a potential MoT failure. Most testers appear to be quite pragmatic in this regard in that if the car passes the emission test, so what? If it fails, well, it's failed anyway..

But get one on a bad day......

I had my kleeman headers, x-pipe, exhaust and race cats done at Eurocharged, my CLS55 now sounds insane at full whack. Can't comment on the MOT side of things.

Cars are supposed to have the number of CATs they left the factory with. If they don't, they should fail the MOT test.

In the real world, it is down to how jobsworth the MOT tester is. Mine passed fine with two primary CATs but no secondary CATs despite the fact it should have failed technically.

Interested to know more about the different types of weld...

I'm guessing the welds would be in different places should the OP decide to fit different headers at a later stage. As for different welds...:dk:

I will call up tomorrow to get the exact name of the welds but it was to basically accommodate more power if i wanted it later on.
I personally dont think id want more power as its just fine for me as it is but the sound is something i may consider.

Searching this forum i see a few people have done the removal of the two cats and put in the xpipe and had no issues so looks like its all good.
I just didnt want to lose that valuable torque...

No loss of torque when I did mine.

I think that extra power would be Long Tube headers which may mean different welds in a different place to accommodate at a later date.

It's a combination of welds and bend type.

At the lower price point is crush bend with MIG welding at the higher price is Mandrel bends with TIG welding.

Mandrel bends have the same diameter, crush bend the diameter is reduced at each bend.

Hi mate, I think you may have been the guy I spoke to sometime last week. Thanks for those two reminders on types of weld/bend.
Appreciate it :thumb:

Also as a rule of thumb, forced induction engines dont loose torque when you removed exhaust backpressure and N/a ones do.

Nothing to think about, get it done! It sounds great!!

Just an update....

After deliberating what I should do regarding an x pipe to make the sound how I want ive now chosen a slightly different root after speaking with eurocharge.

I have the car booked in for a remap, supercharge pully upgrade, Johnson supercharge pump and straight pipes to replace my primary cats.

Ill be happy if the car makes around the 550bhp mark and as i believe ill end up doing this in the near future i might aswell do it now....

Im sure by putting the straight pipes in to replace the primary cats it will give the car that great sound im after and also it will help the car generate more power for when the pully and remap is done.

Reason why im putting a Johnson pump in is because i believe my current pump is failing.
After driving hard for a long period sometimes i get no power at all as the power cuts off. Then after a short 2 minutes of normal driving and chance for the temperature to cool down ill put my foot down and power is back.
Eurocharge will test this on the day but from my research its the pump thats causing this.

Thats my update :)
