Third rear brake light -cheap option?

W211 2004 E320cdi 119,700miles.
Have recently bought the car and comes with several problems.

The third rear brake light (high level red LED lights) has 21 LEDs and the first 4 on rhs (as you look at the boot) do not work.

Where is most reliable place to buy a light unit?

Or is it possible to change the LED duds (assuming it is the LEDs, not some faulty connection/soldering)? Is the following the correct LED @ 60p a pop?

LED, PLCC4, 0.5W, RED, 16.5LM - ASMT-QRBD-AEF0E

I know Mr Television was interested in this some years back.

Given that 4 LEDs have failed, it's most likely that the surface mount current limiting resistor has failed - so don't go buying the LEDs until you've had a chance to examine the board.
On the other hand, it took me a lot of time & effort to fix mine. When that failed, I bought a new one from the dealer rather than attempt another repair.
