This thing called Command is stupid

I assume my system is the same as yours but I only seem to have a very limited list of vias to select from? Perhaps I need to study the manual.

There was a report recently of another system that was something like: on a journey from N England to the SW, instructed the use of a ferry to Ireland, drive to S Ireland, ferry to France, then ferry back to SW England!

That's the system bought in Dublin sold by Paddy McMapping

Hi Andy, there is no way to enter any other stop off other than those on the route that it has already worked out

There must be Malcolm, surely if you wanted to go to say London from your house via Brighton it would calculate that?

Is there not an option to use "via" rather than places of interest?

For the record, if I were making this journey (certainly from Portsmouth) it would go something like

Stay on the A27 as far as Polegate, from Polegate pick up the A22 to Hailsham, from there the A295/A271 to Battle Via Herstmonceaux.

From the first roundabout in Battle (There's an Unwins wine merchants there) take the first exit A2100(signposted London) out to the roundabout on the A21 at John's Cross then head north staying on the A21 to Goudhurst

As far as I know, you'll only pass one camera on that journey which is at Firle

I can enter any place as a "via" as Diesel states. I can construct a route any way I wish and COMAND will "connect the dots"

On command 2 you cant go via anywhere other than the calculated route. I have read the book twice and tried again just now.

Thanks for the details that I will print out

Some one can have a play in the morning

Some other answers in and thank you, yes I could have done it via the map I think, time is running out and thanks to everyone agian

Good luck Malcolm, if I see you drive by tomorrow I guess the route planning didn't go too well :D:D

And again, in english please!...:)

How you want to get there. bus car lorry etc then roads or lanes or tracks.

Should have said I refuse to answer on the grounds I might incriminate myself.

I'll have a glass of whatever you're on lexuscol :D

That is not true, I have done it on more than one occasion. The tricky part is that an extra waypoint is called "stopover". You need to select the stop option. In addition to the list of gas stations and other POIs, you can just enter an address as per usual by selecting "address" in the blue menu bar at the bottom.

Not very intuitive in terms of function names, but works fine. :)

I must say I was surprised to read about your problem, are you using the latest disc? COMAND is only as good as the quality of the nav data you supply it with. I have never had any of these problems, to be honest.

Finally, you can block certain roads in the route list, COMAND will then recalculate the route accordingly. If there is a certain road you don't want to take and it calculates the route over it nevertheless, then block it in the route list.

Pop in you,ll be welcome.

I am using a 2006 disc.

Does it make any difference if the destination guidance is not active.

I have always done fine with it till now, it just calculates every where via the M5.

Thanks again, I will play or someone else can at the meet

That should be all right then, I assume it's the full version, not the one with "major roads" only?

Can't remember to be honest, I think I always do it with route guidance active.

Probably a small bug in the disc's data. Might be worthwhile telling TeleAtlas about it. Definitely not what it should do. :)

I did read that TeleAtlas is being aquired by TomTom

Yes it is the full version, I still have an older version, but no time now to play as its bed time, thanks again

Google maps

A bit off topic I know, but Google maps is on of the best for producing a route which can be printed out for you to follow. After selecting the start and finish points it calculates a route in about a second. You can then select a part of the route and drag it to a new location. You can keep doing this to create your own route. It is the best and fastest route planner I have ever seen.:)
