Whilst I totally Agree with your Sentiments Ron, You should choose your Weapon Of defense Carefully.
I also Realise you were Just making an "off the Cuff" Remark but if it is of any Help to anyone else........
If you use a Baseball Bat, ensure that you have a Glove and Ball in the House...to prove that you picked the said Bat up as the first thing that came to Hand while under Attack!
In Court, It has been used against People who have defended their Home by saying the Bat (or similar) was kept solely to "Whack" Intruders....This is not reasonable force Sadly.
As you have witnessed many times in the Press, Law abiding People are easy Meat to the Courts, we do not enjoy the limitless Legal aid, That the Intruder/Trespasser would.
